Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Introducing ourselves

This is our first posting, so we are no longer "Lukers".

We are 2 "born and raised" Minnesotans who are still working 8-5's, but have announced our plans to retire in November and hit the road in January 2011.  We are both too young for Medicare, so we will be studying the Health Insurance topics on this forum closely.

We began the process of downsizing last year when our plans first came together.  We've been giving away, selling, and donating "stuff" for months, and there is still more to get rid of.  The house is on the market; all we need are shoppers who might be interested.  It shows well, and we think it's priced right, but we haven't seen many prospects come around.

Last year we went to the Escapade in Sedalia, and met some of the "Friends of the Mouse" who workamp for Walt Disney World.  We took one of grandaughters there just last month and looked up one of the couples.  We'd love to join them in FLA next winter.  Then we plan to visit some relatives in Alaska during 2011.  After that we expect to do a lot of Volunteering, while we see more of this great countryside at a slower pace than in the past.

Welcome.

Health insurance is a very individual topic but I will say that is can affect your domicile state. We need to stay Washington state residents to maintain health insurance that covers existing conditions and we are not alone since we know a few others in the same situation. We found a group plan through a professional organization and feel very lucky we stayed members of that organization.

Welcome to the RV Dreams family and forum. We found Howard and Linda's website shortly after deciding that we were changing our lifestyle and become fulltime rvers. H&L were very helpful in preparing us for this change. We have now been fulltimers for 2 1/2 years and love it. My wife found such a freedom in letting loose of all the "stuff". It looks like y'all have a good plan, don't get discouraged. We have been doing volunteer work since we took to the road and have found it very rewarding. We wish you the best in the future and if you have any questions this forum is a good place to ask.
