Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Army Chaplain Family on the move!

About a month ago I posted that we are looking into "full timing" but wasn't sure if it would be feasible for us. It looks like after all is said and done full timing is going to work for us. Now to decide on the RV. It seems overwhelming when looking for a fulltime rig. We have narrowed it down to a 5thWheel toy hauler as the garage will work for our sons bedroom and play area. The model that we are looking at is the Fuzion TEII 405. We would like a unit with two separate sleeping areas and two bathrooms would be a very nice luxury. So with that said, what are some options that you have seen out there that we could look at? We have about 3 months before it is time to hit the road and head to Ft. Hood! Also, if there was a model that our current truck could pull, that would be sweet!! We currently own a Toyota Tundra, I love this truck, but not beefy enough to pull a fifth wheel. Maybe there is a hitch pull out there that would meet our needs?

Blessings!

Chaplain Troy,

First of all, if you wish to stay with your current vehicle, the Tundra, be sure and check the weight capacities for your truck.  Be sure and get the Gross Combined Vehicle Weight rating in addition to the Gross Vehicular Weight Rating.  GVWR is the maximum capacity of the weight the pickup can haul, including fuel and passengers, and the GCVW is the maximum that you can tow and haul.  The GVWR of both the truck and trailer combined must not exceed the GCVW on your truck.

I am fearful that you may not be able to get a very large trailer, either fifth wheel or travel trailer, that the pickup will handle.  I suggest you go talk to a Toyota dealer and get the information.  The brocure that I found online did NOT have any rating for the GCVW.

Whatever you do, good luck and have fun looking.

Terry

I doubt if you will find a toy hauler that you are discribing that your truck could safely pull. Most toy haulers are built on the heavy side and if you are going to fulltime in it you'll want the extra room that a larger one provides (my opinion only of course).
