Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
Looking for feedback as to which pinbox may provide a smoother tow... the TrailAir airshock type or the MorRyde rubber pinbox type. I have heard that the TrailAir tends to make for an uneasy loose feel - definitely don't want that out of either of these. Would appreciate hearing from those of you who have tried either.

Have mor-ryde. I ordered it on my 5er after talking to 2 trail-air owners who had air leak problems. I have never had trail-air so really can't say. I also have never heard or anyone else since then (3 years ago) with air leak problems. Both are reputable, so likely either would be OK.
Trail Air...but on axles and pinbox. Have heard from numerous people how they've left their coffee cups in the microwave or left a glass on the counter while traveling down the road. When they pulled in to the next site the cup or glass had not moved or spilled a drop! This has happened to us personally! Husband pulled my brother's Select Suite from the dealer to his storage lot. He had left his 3/4 of a can of Dr. Pepper (open of course) on the bar. It was in the same place when he pulled into the storage space.....over 20 miles and over bumpy roads. Nice thing about Trail Air is it now has the TriGlide attached to keep the "chucking" motion down also.
I have MorRyde IS on my trailer suspension and a Trail Aire pin hitch which makes for a good combination. I talked with a MorRyde rep. at the RV Dreams rally in Branson who confirmed that that was best for my application with my MDT. The TrailAire is built to cushion the up and down movement while the MorRyde is made to cushion the chucking actions /per the rep. I just talked to someone that had taken a trip to Alaska pulling a 5ver without a special pin hitch and it was rather rough trip. She said they did another trip to Alaska with a TrailAire pin hitch and it made a world of difference. I am the second owner on my trailer and pinhitch and neither of us has had trouble with air leaks.My trailer is an '05.

We have the “5th Airborne” which is another “airbag” version of the TrailAir device.(We also have the MOR-ryde IS - Independent Suspension - on the 5er and the MOR-ryde RL system on the 3500 DRW truck.)
I am BIG MOR-ryde fan, but I chose the airbag version for the pin box and think it was a better idea for us.
The MOR-ryde pinbox system only cushions or absorbs back and forth motion.The air bag system better protects (in my opinion) the truck and the trailer frames from the potentially extremely harsh stresses of the vertical “bumps.” This protection is a big deal IMO.The air bag (TrailAir and 5th Airborne) also offer back and forth cushion to an acceptable extent due to the fulcrum point the airbag works against.
I don’t know if this explanation is clear. But in my view, and experience, the airbag type system is better “overall” in the typical 5er / pickup truck arrangement. It, the Trail-Air or 5th Airborne, will best protect the truck, trailer and “you” riding in the truck. In a perfect world I would have the 5th Airborne with a MOR-ryde king pin rubber bumper on it. But the world is not perfect and this combination has never been tested to my knowledge.
Further comment: The MOR-ryde IS (independent) suspension upgrade on our trailer, over the factory MOR-ryde rubber / leaf system, was a “huge” improvement.The rubber “center point” system, using leaf springs, MOR-ryde or TrailAir, is just not as good as all 4 wheels on the rig riding on their own, wheel independent system.That has been our experience based on the last 25,000 miles.
