Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

If I were you, I would find a local certified RV tech and pay him a few hundred dollars to check it out. Money well spent.

Arrange to spend about 4 hours just using the MH as you would if you were camping. Get it level to try out the jacks. Turn on all the appliances, refrigerator, A/C, heater, water heater...etc to try them out. leave them on for at least 1/2 hour to make sure all works well.

Run the generator for at least a 1/2 hour and put a load on it (run the A/C).

Test drive the unit for as long as possible, make sure you go up and down hills.

Like Fred said, get an independant RV tech to look it over.

All the above and I would also ask to see the maintenance records. Check the dates on the tires. Those should be on the inside. It doesn't matter how many miles are on them....check the dates.

Hey congrats on getting your dream home on wheels. Those are beautiful motor homes. About the only advice I can give since you have the extra protection plan is look in all the cabinets up as far as you can. Look around all vents and skylights. Also look under the cabinets. Then look all around in the storage areas up, and under.

You are looking for signs of water damage. What can be a little stain on the inside showing, can be major damage in the walls and floor where you cant see.

I'd ask for the maintenance records and see if all the warranty work was done and if it was done on time. I agree with Mike and Gerri - ck the dates on the tires. I would check the generator, refrigerator, hot water, furnace and air conditioner(s). I would also make sure I had Coach-Net or 24/7 emergency assistance in place.

I would recommend you view www.tiffinrvnetwork.com if you haven't done so. It has a wealth of information and a forum similar to this for tiffin owners.

I would concentrate on big dollar items first to examine: transmission, tires, slides, jacks, generator, awnings, windshield.

We bought a used Tiffin in May and have been very pleased. Feel free to contact us if we can help.

Good luck,
Randy

I would also add....check the batteries. If they have not been maintained by adding water and cleaning the posts on a monthly basis....then it's a good bet additional items have also been ignored. To replace all the batteries will cost a pretty penny!
