Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Campground memberships?

How many people use campground memberships? Are some better then others? I've seen Good Sam, Escapees, Thousand Trails, and something America.

We are Thousand Trails members, with the RPI and um, some other one I forgot, but just wondered in places we will be staying where there are no TT parks. (and that is going to be often when we hit the road).

On the Escapees web site, there really isn't any info about what parks offer discounts, and what the discount is.

Thanks, Paul (and the Westies sitting on my lap as I write this).

There are many parks that accept Good Sam and Escapees, Who's discount is either 10 or 15%. there are somewhat less that take Passport America, but the discount is 50%, so it is definitely worth joining, especially if you are fulltiming.

Most full timers are looking for every discount we can find. smile.gif

We've been on the road just a little over 9 years and had purchased a used Thousand Trails membership when we first started out.  Our family is mostly in the Great Lakes area (OH, MI, IL, PA) and we tried hard to use our TT, RPI and Enjoy America membership as much as possible.  However, since we ended up visiting our precious granddaughters each summer, we never once used up all our "allowed" nights each year in TT, in spite of taking various routes trying to take in all the TT parks we could.  Since the majority of the TT preserves are in Texas and the Pacific NW, if you will be spending a lot of time there, you will more likely get your money's worth.  RPI parks are often the same parks as Coast-To-Coast and Good Sam but did get us in a few really nice parks that we wouldn't have been in otherwise.  We have just sold our TT membership.  On the other hand....we will always have Passport America.  The parks aren't always the greatest, but we definitely get our money's worth and there are so many more PA parks available.  We have also enjoyed many of the Escapees parks.

Happy Travels!

We used Passport America the most (best value with 50% discount).  But we also used Good Sam and KOA membership cards.  We didn't use any campground-specific memberships.

With Passport America and escapees, once you join do you get a booklet reading what parks are part of their program? Do they have an online list? I didn't see this information on their website. (I will look again, I may have missed it).

Agree about the TT parks. We are in the pacific northwest (Oregon) and there are a lot of parks on this side of the map. TT Changes their rules and ownership so often, we aren't sure they will still be operating in 3 years when we hit the road. The new ownership is buying condo's, and cruise ship space and selling that to the public. Makes one wonder what the future is for the RV parks.

We have an Atlas marked full of X's (thanks to the travel channel) of places we want to see and go. Some of them we will be boondocking for a night or two, but for the longer stays we want hook ups. I know some of the excitement and allure to hitting the road is not knowing where your going or going to find out there. We just want to make sure we join the right RV park memberships that we can.

Edited .. I see Passport America has a booklet with the info on the parks... :)

Here is the link to passport america campgrounds.  They display all the campgrounds on a map so you can find one closest to you (assuming you know where you are to begin with :)
