Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Business advertising

Do RV parks give you a hard time for putting magnetic signs on your RV advertising your business or service? What about handing out flyers and business cards? I would imagine this type of thing is done quite regularly since many FTers are running businesses from their RV.

Thanks

Kyle

I have a magnetic signs on each side of my truck advertising my photography. No one has ever bothered me about it. Some places even like the fact that I photograph campers or their pets. Seems to be an added amenity to the campground.

I've seen some folks actually setup a sales booth at their RV spot to sell the crafts they make.

Some RV resorts won't allow it.

However, many will allow you to do a demo of your product in the meeting rooms. Every year a lady does a Pampered Chef demo at the resort we stay in during July.

I've seen tupperware, a brake product, and RV travel videos sold this way.

The park also has a garage sale type event in the central courtyard. We have setup and sold our jewelry and fashion accessories at this event.

I know this is an old post but I thought I would add to it........

passing out flyers from site to site would probably be a No-no, this would be soliciting and most are in the park to relax......I place a sign in my windshield and let word of mouth go from there......I also pay the campground a commission for allowing me to use there business to conduct mine.

I have had several parks let me set up on a scheduled day , advertise for me at the sign in desk and take orders. and display samples in their store area

I make routered wood signs which can get noisy and normally they set me up right out front at the entrance area away from the sites and it has worked out well....I even call in advance now and set it up before my arrival.

I have found that just asking has 8 out of 10 times welcomed me to doing it.....(not to mention how many signs are traded to the campground for full hook-ups!)

I would remove all signage from your vehicles while traveling. You could be considered a commercial vehicle if you are a business and on the road. This would open up a whole new world of regulation and taxation that you really want to avoid at all costs.

I agree with Mark. We have Magnetic signs on our truck. Not a business, we are members of NOMADS which are volunteers working with the Methodist church at various agencies doing housing rehabs, campground work, etc. In the northeast we have been charged as a commercial vehicle when crossing toll bridges and on toll roads. We know now - take those signs off!

Never had anyone question about being a business in a campground but lots of people ask us about the NOMADS organization. We are glad to share the info!

Like others have said, I don't think the signs will be an issue 99% of the places...but soliciting will be a big problem most places.
