Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
We have owned a few RV's over the years, but now call our 2nd home a 37ft Carriage 5th wheel. We are Thousand Trails members, and spend as much time as we can on the Oregon coast. (Whalers Rest, and Pacific City). Beautiful campgrounds, but then again, anywhere on the Oregon coast is beautiful.
We are about 3.5 years from retiring and being snowbirds. Heading south, to mid west to where ever the road is going to take us. (as long as it's warmer and dryer then Oregon winters are).
We have.. (or rather) we belong to 3 Westies. Jackpot, Tyra, and Maggy. They love to go RVing as much as we do. We have a large back window in our 5th wheel, and when we are not hiking some trail with them, or walking the beach, they are looking out that window on a (padded shelf of course) I built them.
We have a home page with lots of info about us, pictures and some helpful RV links I have found on the internet. (if I did it right it's in our sig box below). I (Paul) had so many questions about the whole 12 volt living and found the best webpage ever for that. (It's in our "fun stuff" page).
Well, that's our intro, and hope to meet up with some of you along our way.

Don't blame you for wanting to spend a lot of time on the Oregon coast. It sure is beautiful out there. We have a Son that lives in Portland, so we get out there from time to time.
Be sure to join in on the forum when you can. Lots of friendly folks here.
Jim

Thanks for the welcomes! We keep a large Atlas by our chairs here so we can make "X"'s in it while watching the Travel Channel. (Places we want to go, and see when we hit the road).
We also read as many personal blogs as we can from RVers that have "been there done that" to learn about places they have visited.
We are currently (kind of sort of) looking for a new or newer TV for our 5er. (Tow Vehicle) We have been searching the net for info on the Topkick and Kodiak's C4500. We really like the style of these trucks.
We wonder how they are for comfort on a long run, how they pull hills and corner. I have test driven one, and empty (not pulling the 5er) it seems like it wanted to get away from me.
Our Current TV is a GMC C3500 dually. I really like having those training wheels back there. Makes a very stable ride while going down HWY 101 with high winds.

We, too, enjoy staying on the Oregon Coast. Can't really beat that fabulous scenery. We're planning to go to Seaside for 2 weeks this summer and are looking forward to it.
Sounds like you have a great plan for the snowbird life!

Hi Paul & Brenda, and.......Jackpot, Tyra, and Maggy,
Welcome to the Forum We too LOVE Oregon, and camped on the coast this past Summer and went back in the Fall. Driving along 101 is truly beautiful. We plan on returning as we fell in love with the area. Wishing you safe and fun travels Arlene & Larry

Oh yeah, driving the beautiful pacific coast hwy is an awesome site to be sure. Towing a 37 ft 5th wheel behind a 22ft truck can be REALLY FUN! My wife and I toss quotes back and forth of the movie "The Long, long trailer" while we drive it. (Gotta love that movie).
We are heading over there this week end for a Valentines long week end. YAHOOOOOO! We are coastal junkies! We average at least one long week end a month over there.
If your ever in the area same time we are give a shout!
:)

We too are newcomers to the forum and also love Oregon and the coast. We used to spend every spring break in Yachats with the kids. Memorial Day week we will be at Beachside State Park for 3 nights, South Beach for 1 or 2 and probably end up in Nehalem before pulling our new 5th wheel home to Idaho. The coast has a lot to offer RVrs. We have enjoyed Gordon and Juanita's blogging from Port Orford this winter at http://www.mytripjournal.com/USAChevrolet&i=1 Pat

and yes...we have the movie The Long Long Trailer... It's toooo funny. Bought it at a Camping store, and there were 3 other couples in line with one in their baskets also. ...and chatting with them...they were all full timers.
Have fun on the Oregon coast, and we may see you there sometime, and again...WELCOME TO THE BEST FORUM FAMILY.....EVER !

Oh yeah, you gotta do the Newport Seafood & Wine Festival at least once! And while there, right across the street is the Marine Hatfield science center. That's a HAVE to visit, and it's free. http://hmsc.oregonstate.edu/visitor/ .
The Oregon coast aquarium is also across the street, (you have to pay admission there) but I like the science center better.
Thanks Gandalf for that travel blog link. I love reading stories of RVers that have "been there done that".

Hello Paul and Brenda. Sherri and I have fallen behind on reading the forum here lately but we would like to take this time to say hello and hope to read your post again. We will be checking out your home page.
Tripen, funny, we live in Oregon and though we LOVE the coast we can't wait to get away to AZ for a while. Of course, Oregon is always going to be home. It's just hard to beat this beautiful state. Give a shout when you get back!
Speedhitch, I fall behind all the time in reading and posting. I think I'm on about 20 RV sites. I need to update our webpage, (as boring as it is right now just hanging on the Oregon coast on week ends.
SoonToTravel, Cool nick! That's us, (soon to travel). We have about 3.5 years before hitting the open road. always gonna keep the home here in Oregon, but just gotta see whats out there in the backyard called U.S.A.
This was the view out our back window for 3 nights last week end. We were at Pacific City Oregon. Hard to believe.. but these were actually taken by me and my wife from our RV.
