Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.


We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Were a Young Couple Looking to Fulltime RV

Hello everybody. This is our first post and hopefully the first of many. My name is Anton and my wife's name is Snow. We are both young in our late 20's early 30's. We currently live in a house in Chandler, AZ just outside of Phoenix with our dogs. We are new to rving and full-timing but have been looking to full-time for the past 5 years or so. We had a 5th wheel a few years ago, but unfortunately sold it. Since then we have been back and fourth on what we wanted to do and what rv to purchase. After much deliberation we realized our ultimate dream would be to full-time. So we wish to sell our house and start our full-time adventure and see this country while were still young. We are looking into workcamping and other income making jobs on the road as well as what rv to get. (5th Wheel, Class A, Bus Conversion etc.) We are looking to attend the Quartzsite Sports, Vacation & RV Show this next tuesday and hopefully talk to many rver's on which rv to get and how to start full-timing. We are so excited and hope to get all the information we can so we can start off on our great adventure. I can't imagine living any other way. We don't want to live in a turn key house and watch the world pass us by. We wish to get out there see the country and experience life. We hope to learn a lot and make new friends. Hope to hear form you, can't wait to get started, and any information is greatly appreciated.

Welcome.  I agree with Racerguy, it's never to early.  We are relatively young (at least in the world of fulltiming) and like you, wanted to live our life while we're young enough to do all of the things we love to do.  The future is not a guarantee and I believe you have to live in the now.  It's those people who wait for the 'perfect' time who find themselves at the end of their lives with regrets.  So go for it!  Good luck in your quest.  This is a place to get a lot of information.  We have learned a ton in the last several months.

Anton and Snow,

First of all, welcome to the forums.  You have found a wealth of knowledge in the people that frequent this place.

Let the fun begin.  Check out RV shows, different dealers, and different types of RV's.  You will generally get good advice from people here, but only you can make the decision as to whether you go with a motorhome, a fifth wheel, a travel trailer (sometimes just called TT) or even some other type of camper.  If you have the chance, sit in each for a while and see if you get a sense of "home" with that unit.

Use the internet to your advantage.  It saves a LOT of MILES.  But, being there is better.  Use the internet to get ratings, see pictures and floorplans, and some of the construction details.

BEWARE OF SALESMEN.

While many are knowledgeable and friendly, take what they say with a grain of salt unless they can profide proof.  If you are looking at a trailer of some kind, check out the towing capacities of your towing vehicle as to whether it will SAFELY pull the trailer you are interested in.

But, in all things, have fun looking.

Hi and welcome to RV dreams! You'll find a lot of great support here and great guidance on any questions you may have.

My hubby and I too are going to be young-fulltimers. We're looking at hitting the road full-time in 2013. The reason why we're waiting is that we want to have sufficient funds saved so that if we don't find work right away, we won't be without the necessities.

I agree with everyone here. Life is not a dress rehearsal. If you and your wife and the doggies have your minds set on this...just do it.

Tell us more about you....what are your plans for workcamping? Have you joined the Workamper News site yet?
