Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
getting ready to take the leap. going to florida at the end of the month to look at and hopefully buy a 95 newmar from the owner if all goes well. any input before its to late would be appreciated.
Take it for a long test drive, offer to pay for the fuel. Get it good and warmed up.
Park it on clean cement (if possible) somewhere and let it idle for at least 15 minutes, walk around it and see what kind of smells (burning, fuel, anti-freeze) are coming from it. Shut the engine off and watch for leaks.
Have a mechanic look it over and give you a report.
Try out everything including the a/c, heater and water heater.
Good luck.

At one time, Winnebago was modifying some of their RVs so they were wheelchair accessible. I don't know if they still do or not. There are also some businesses around the country that modify RVs. I know of one place in Florida that will do it to certain RVs.
You might also watch for a used MH that has already been modified. I have seen a few advertised from time to time.

Thank you for your reply, do you know what the cost to have a MH adapted would be approimately? There are alot out there that are on sale, we are on a limited budget. Have only found a couple that are already modified, they are located in Minnesota and in New Jersey. As I'm in Arizona, getting them to me is a problem. Hard to inspect them. thank you.

Mary Beth,
I used "Google" with the term "Arizona motorhomes modified for handicapped".
Below are a few links that I found. The first link is to an association related to handicapped rv'ers. Regarding that association, I have no idea how relevant it will be for you. My initial look at it was pretty cursory, but I didn't see a lot there. You may want to check with local "handicapped" associations to see if any can help you.
Well went to Florida and looked at the newmar. wasnt what it was supposed to be. beatup inside and out. moldy as well. they still have it and I'm still looking. on the positive side it was a good experiance that taught me to not look so far from home.
I appreciate your input, we live in Sedona, Arizona, it is a pretty rural town, no RV dealers, so far we have only been on-line looking, and lots of RV dealers in surrounding towns are, of course, interested in selling us something. They don't seem to get the fact that we need what we need, like how can I possibly look at something that doesn't have a lift in it so I can at least access it. We have time and have just begun, we will find the perfect one, we are sure. So if you find anything out there that is accessible, let me know. Thank you for your input again.
