Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.


We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Nev-R-Lube Axle Hubs.....Your Experiences, Please???

We seem to be getting closer to ordering a Mobile Suites, but since I am an old-timer and former truck driver, I have some questions regarding the Nev-R-Lube hubs on the Dexter axles. The question comes because of my concern for a very important aspect of a vehicle that says it doesn't need periodic lubrication.

What experiences have all of you had with regard to the Nev-R-Lube axles?

Do you wish you had the ability to service the hubs periodically?

I am aware that any mechanical device has the potential of failing, but is there anyone that really thinks the Nev-R-Lube hubs are a bad deal in comparison to normal hubs?

Maintenance of the Nev-R-Lube hubs is to maintain the brakes. I talked to a Dexter technician in Indiana. He recommended removing the hubs about every two years, apply never seize to the contact places of the shoes, adjust the brakes and forget about it for a couple of years.
I have an aquaintance that had a hub go out. His rig was about 7 years old at the time. Took a couple of days to get the new hub (pretty spendy) and re-install.

Mine have been trouble free for about 15000 miles. Three trips to Oregon, one to South Carolina, one to Georgia, one to Indiana, and numerous trips inside Texas.

BTW, I never liked pulling hubs every year and repacking the bearings. Did it for years, and the Ne-R-Lubes are much better.

We've had them for almost 4 years now and have probably towed about 50,000 miles without problems. I checked a while ago and was told that depite my fears, there's nothing to do to them. I get the brakes checked and adjusted every year or so. I think they have been around for a while, Carriage has been using them for years and I don't recall anyone on the owners forum reporting any problems.

Haven't had any problems with ours. We are not full time yet but have towed 5k or so, previous owners estimated 10-15k towed miles. Plan on having brakes inspected and adjusted when we go fulltime, when the house sells.
