Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
Yes, I have done a search on this topic. There was 1 thread which while helpful, did not fully answer my question.
Howard is always talking about planning his trip ahead. He plans his next 1 to 3 campgrounds as well as the travel routes, mileage etc. He also appears to select alternate campgrounds, should those planned not be available or desirable upon inspection.
I thought I read once upon a time how he did this, but I can't find it even with a site search. Either I am using the wrong search words or not tilting my head in the right direction (self inflicted trucker antenna).
Please don't use abbreviations. Some of us have not learned all of our codes yet. Took me forever to get Dragon Heart, Dirty Window and Ieinnie Meinnie Heinnie Ohhhhhh.
The Good Sam website has a trip planner that you can use ONLY IF YOU ARE A MEMBER, that estimates miles, hours, fuel usage, etc. I believe I've heard that Escapees has something similar, but I am not a member of Escapees organization yet, so can't say for sure.
I don't know what Howard is using, but Trailer Life sells a computer program that does all you are interested in and lists all their campground entries. It's a great program for trip planning and searching for campgrounds in any area of the country. Here's the link
I hope Howard will jump in here but I think you are talking about his blog. I'm thinking it was in September he did a long entry about how he picks his campsites - what resources he uses etc. It was excellent and I know I learned a lot from it. Until he jumps in here, try checking there.

Thank you Mr. Fred. Yes, JanieD, I did the forum search and site search. I must not be able to come up with the right wording. He'll be around sooner or later...Ron
Some of us...being the way we are...cannot make plans for one reason or the other. We have made plans before but then something changes along the way and BINGO it all changes. We have to react to what is going on in our lives. I have found that if you get good at it you can adapt to certain situations as they come about. I would hope that one day we will be able to plan out our travels...but until that time we will just have to hit and miss each and every destination that we arrive at. I guess that is what makes my life so interesting...there is no real plan.
