Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
, I think i am closing in on what type of RV, I had mentioned on an earlier thread that we wanted a class A toy hauler to carry a smart car, The Travel Supreme is a real nice coach, they are out of business, but 2007 and 2008 are out there, they are mid engine diesels, low mileage units. The other coaches that have my attention are the class C units like RENEGADE or PONY EXPRESS, these are big diesels, freightliner chassis, beautiful units. Does anyone recall seeing these types of units in your travels? what was your impression? Also the lenths range from 41 to 44 ft, any problems getting into campgrounds with these lenths? I've seen these units and were very impressed by them. They are actually considered Super Class C motorhomes.
I see a lot of the Off Road crowd use these.
Some campgrounds have restrictions against Class C and Super Class C motorhomes due to the truck/van front ends. Don't know the reason, I've just read on many forums where folks with these types of untis were refused entry.
Other than that, they look like a very useable RV solution.

Just a thought...will those toyhauler ramps handle the weight of a smartcar? I woudl be concerned with the axle rating as well...I would guess those cars weigh 2k pounds at least...

Wouldn't your choices be much greater with a regular MH and just tow the car? What is the advantage of having the car inside, considering all the living space you give up?
Fred, i like the idea of having the car in the garage, a little less length to deal with, the car stays nice and clean, etc...additionally the units i am looking at have full size beds over the car, so not to much interior space is given up, when the car is out of the garage the space can then become usefull for something else, this is one unit i am looking at, check it out, G
Have you checked the dimensions and weight capacity of the garage? From the photo of the Harley on it, I have a hard time seeing a Smart car fitting, but I could be wrong. Are you going to be full timing or is this for vacations?
Interestingly enough when the unit first came out it was designed specifically for a smart car, you drive on to the platform, then remotely load it . we will be fulltime, here is another unit i am considering, thanks, G

Something to think about....yes you have a bed suspended over the garage area. Do you access it via a ladder or steps? We had a small toy hauler that had the suspended bed..what a pain having to get up in the middle of the night and find the ladder and climb down to go to the bathroom. I had to climb over my husband then locate the ladder. If it is the loft type with steps that would be better.
