Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
Discussing with my wife how lucky we are, as we look around our town at all the people who have given up on life, over weight, out of shape, seldom if ever venturing out of the town they grew up in. Every day we observe people walking around like robots, depressed, few interests, kind of waiting to die. Then there are the RVERS, often on the move, everyday discovering a new place, physically active, excited about life and all there is that this great planet has to offer. What makes us like this? What gives us this motivation to go against the current and live this amazing life, I believe we are blessed, by what, i am not sure, but definately blessed. Just felt like sharing a little a little gratitude. Gene
Just a few years ago, Abe Lincoln stated, "People are about as happy as they make up their minds to be." I think Abe pretty much hit the nail on the head, as we all are responsible for our own happiness.
People often mechanically say, "Have a great day!" To me, this is really a decision we should consiously make each morning when first awakening, and not something that just happens.
Ed Diener, a psychologist at the University of Illinois stated, "Materialism is toxic for happiness." He observed "even wealthy materialists are not as happy as those who care less about getting and spending".
Happiness seems intrinsic in people who are absorbed in activities that cause them to lose track of time and to cease worrying. Guess that is very true of most RVers.

You know Gene, Rod and I have had those same thoughts lately for some reason. Not so much about the out of shape, overweight stuff, more like why do people keep spinning their wheels or aspire to be something so unimportant in the scheme of life. Where are thier souls? where is their head at? what are they thinking? Then I remember, I was just like them once.
I am happy not to be in that place mentally any more, its a great stress reliever.
I think over the centuries, society as a whole has been programmed to do what is expected of them. I think of ourselves as slaves to society. Most people are just numbered drones, subconsiancely going through the motions, trying to satisfy their emotional needs with materialistic objects. The big question is who is the poorer man? The rich man sitting in the back of his limo on his way to his mansion, or the man rummaging through the dumps of India? (My personnal opinion, for what it is worth - the rich man is the poorer individual). I think people can only be truly happy when they realize what real happiness is - love, caring, friendship and freedom to choose which direction to move forward. I actually feel sorry for the masses of ignorance to what life is really suppose to be about. So many people are either blind or ignorant of the important things. And some like to be that way because they feel safe in their bubbles they create for themselves. Ann

I couldn't agree with you more! We often get too caught up in what society expects from us as individuals or families and our happiness is sacrificed to conform to what is considered "normal." I don't want to be normal
