Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

New Rvers

Hi, just registered today but have been reading the trip journal for about a year. In fact this was the first site that really made us know that becoming full time rvers was our goal. The information was invaluable and led us to many other sources in our research. We were tent campers and loved it, but we were never ready to go home at the end of our trips. That's when we began looking at rv's and going full time. My husband is about 1-2 years from retirement and I am part time adjumct faculty at a community college. I think I will be able to come back and teach summer semester whic will help the cash flow.We did a lot of rv research and decided on an Excel 5th Wheel. Ordered it and it should be here early November. Won't get much time in this year but will be ready for spring. This first year we know we need to stay around here and just learn what we are doing and be close to the dealer to get all the kinks worked out (or at least some of the early ones).  I can tell already that we will learn a lot from this community.biggrin

janieD,
Good choice in fivers, we ordered our Excel a couple of weeks ago and it will be built in Dec. We looked at a lot of fivers and after a trip to the factory chose Excel. Welcome to the RV-Dream family they are all great people and very helpful.
Watch out for Speedy - he can be onery.smile.gif

We visited the factory at Smith Center too, if we'd gotten things together sooner we would have had it in October but we making that decision was a big one. We have the house sold and are renting a condo. Still have one in college so that is keeping us from retirement but it won't be long.

janieD, Welcome to th RV Deams forum and the big new famiy that you are now a part of.
You have made a wise decision on purchasing one of the best fulltime RVs on the market . We also researched for a long time before we purchaced our '05 Excel used in 07. We have lived in it fulltime for the last 2 years and are very happy with it. We went to Smith Center last summer to have a little work done on it and we were very pleased with Jack and his crew at the maintanence shop. They were very good at their jobs and treated us very nice even as second owwners. We do volunteer work and love this lifestyle. No regrets.
