Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
I notice most of the full-timers are married (or at least paired- I didn't ask for papers) :) It made me wonder: Of the couples on the road, what percentage meet there, and what percentage meet before the launch?
I ask because there's a good reason my trailer (and the site that supports it) is called "CounterMoon":
Don Fagen, one half of Steely Dan, does solo projects once in a while. One project was Kamairiad. It's the futuristic story of a guy taking to the road in a steam-powered rig, with a hydroponic farm in the back for 'good fresh things, every day of the year'. One of the scenes is a far-future amusement park, "Laughing Pines" where memories power the design of the virtual world. The singer remembers friends in a huge land-barge doing 90.
Another discusses the effect of moonbeams on lovers, and how "counter-moon beams" can divide couples, not just pair them. I've always felt that hitting the road means living alone, and hence the term.
Note the album had been languishing for six months when I realized what the album was about; it wasn't my inspiration, but I can see how it would be for others.
From a philosophical view "The future is always an unknown" and yes the moon does have an affect on people (from a scientific point of view). Some people start out together, some meet on the road. Some part company on the road or before "hitting the road". Others are destined for a life time of togetherness, other's are destined for a life time of being solo. If you pay close attention the "Signs" will point the way (which ever way is right for you, is not nessecarily the right way for others). Life is a test, with no right or wrong answer. Life is learning and teaching. And yes the unknown can at times be frightening but also exciting. In the end, the ultimate journey begins. "And the answer to it all is - 42". Ann

I've re-read your post several times and have no idea what it's about....
I tend to ramble at times; part of the ADD. In short- how did people on here meet? Was is before the launch to full time, or after? I'm expecting neither, but that's my own path.
The thing about Donald Fagen was just a glimpse into (semi-)popular culture to life on the road.
Another way to possibly discribe it could be a likeness to some modes of transportation by neccessity from the movie Mad Maxx.
Yeah, but so much of Mad Max was so violent; with a few exceptions like the Green River killer, most folks on the road are just as friendly as you can get. They appreciate meeting; a break from the monotony of long drive times. New stories to hear and tell. It doesn't mean it's trouble-free, but most travelers I've ever met have been nice. (This forum is a good example, aye?)
Yes it is a nice forum. My father is a Mad Maxx fan, and I was using it as an example of the type of vehicles people had came up with for travel mode. I thought (oops! brain malfunction) that more people had seen Mad Maxx than the Steely Dan concept. Which might help to get your idea accross (Sorry, oops! again, another brain miss-fire)! :) There was another movie (futuristic) that was much more friendly with the different types of enviro-friendly transport modes, but for the life of me I can't remember the title. It will come to me in a few months or so. :)

Oh, there's no doubt more people know Mad Max more than Donald Fagen! :) Much like my love of fighter planes and shows like Dogfights, I seem to love things that few people do. (Perhaps, like full-time living on the road?) :>
