Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Making Lemonade..

The house has been on the market twice now and hasn't sold.  We were getting quite frustrated earlier this summer as it seems like we are in limbo, waiting to start another phase in our lives, but it's just beyond our reach.  Last year we bought the rig and TV and we've been disappointed that we wouldn't be using it like we thought we would.

Fast forward to today, we are very happy seasonal site owners in Door County, Wisconsin.  Earlier this summer we thought we would try putting the rig in a seasonal site, and might use it more if we had it in a stationary spot we could easily go to whenever we want - no planning (or very little planning), just jump in the car and go.   So far it's been working out great.  Is it fulltiming? no, but it has been a lot of fun and has enabled us to get used to living in the rig and determine what we need and don't need.  We've spent a few weeks at a time there and it's beginning to feel more like home than our sticks and bricks.  It's taking some of the frustration out of our current situation which doesn't look like it will come to a conclusion any time soon.

We are attempting to 'make lemonade' and so far it tastes pretty good!

I'm glad you discoverd a way to relieve the stress of selling. It just goes to show you, "although you can't change the direction of the wind, you can always adjust your sails."

We too have thought of doing that next spring.. We can put the 5th on a site that is only about 30 miles from our home... I think it would give us a great feel for if we would like living in the 5th wheelfulltime...time will tell..patti

Hang in there! Our house just sold (August 14th) and we have been trying for over 3 years. We took it off the market during the winter/holiday months to "give it a rest" as our realtor suggested. We also thought it would never sell in this market. We also understand your frustration. It sounds like you have made a GREAT plan to help ride out the wait. I wish we could have done something similar. Keep your focus on the goal. It will happen.

Hi Mike and Gerri - we are doing the same thing, taking the house off the market during the winter months/holidays.  Congrats on selling your home.  Did you stay with the same realtor all that time?  We are going to change ours before listing again next year.

We stayed with the same realtor because he and his wife are personal friends of ours. In their defense, they were doing all they could to sell the house it was/is just a terrible market. I do believe when we first listed the house way back three or so years ago we had it over priced. He priced it at market value but the market had already started its downward spiral and that price didn't float. We actually marked the house down twice -altogether a total of about $20K from the first listing price.

If you don't feel good about your current realtor I would not hesitate to change. If our house hadn't sold this time I think we were thinking seriously about switching. A new perspective, new pool of clients etc. might have been what was needed. It boils down to business not friendship. Fortunately, we sold and we didn't have to do the changing.

Good luck and hang in there. It will happen!!!!!!!!!!!!!
