Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.


We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Ok.... here are some pics of our project we just did last night!

On our 1996 Safari Serengeti, our fiberglass roof can be known to get tiny microscopic cracks and fissures after 10 years of age.... resulting in potential leaks! So the guys on the Safari list with rigs the same vintage of ours are coating with a special elastomeric coating made for fiberglass.... (similar to Kool-Seal, but we had to get the formula made for fiberglass)

The night before, my hubby Stevio scrubbed the roof good with TSP and let it dry... tonight after work we both got up there and got busy!

Whew, I sure don't like heights, but with adrenaline rushing and heart pounding, I joined him up there to work fast as a team effort and get it done!

I crawled around on my hands and knees, brushing liberal amounts around all the vents, air conditioners, skylight and antennas. Steveio rolled the remaining parts with a thick napped roller on a long handle. He got to stand, I was too scared to stand!

We used almost a full gallon with the first coat. This is a wide body motorhome almost 40 feet long. We will use the second gallon tomorrow and roll it on as thick as we can. The warranty reads that you must put on 2 coats to comply with the 7 year warranty.

Thanks guys.... we got the vent covers put back on last night so its DONE DONE DONE!

Now packing up to go camping in the U.P. of Michigan this weekend. Where we are going is a national forest campground called Ottawa lake. It's about 120 miles from here.

My folks are already at the lake in their motorhome, and my sister has her travel trailer out there. Then a good family friend has his travel trailer, and my brother is supposed to haul out his fifth wheel. wheee Family Camping Weekend!

Great information! We have a fibeglass roof. My husband cleans it several times a year but now we know what to use to keep the surface sealed and going for years to come.
Rv-Dreams is the first forum I look at but this kind of information will make it the only stop most of us will need to make. Thanks for sharing.

My 07 Elite Suite has cracks all over the fiberglas roof. I was quoted $3400 to do what you did. Thanks to the GREAT instructions here, I might try it myself. Thanks for sharing.....
