Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

RVing Fulltime with Cats

smile Hello again!  I have another question.  We have two very well behaved house cats that have all their shots, ID tags and are harness and leash trained.  Do campgrounds charge the same fees for cats as dogs?  Do the same restrictions apply (pet friendly)?  And any other useful information you may have would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you.  Ann

Thanks for the input. I made some calls (starting to plan for our trip south), and the only place that I have found so far, that charges for dogs but not cats is: Sands of Time Campground in Kinnakeet North Carolina on the outer banks (Avon). They said they didn't charge for cats, because they didn't have to clean up after them. Thanks again.

We have found that when we explained that our cat was strictly an indoor cat that many parks waived the fee. This would probably not hold true for chain parks like KOA. It doesn't hurt to ask.

We have both a dog and cat and in almost 4 years on the road have been charged for the dog only a handful of times and never for the cat.

Not to worry.

In three and a half years of fulltiming we were never charged a fee for our two cats, whether we kept them indoors or not.

Often when a RV  park staffer asked about pets and I said, "we have two cats", the staffer said that cats don't count!

I think in general the "pets" question is for insurance reasons, and cats don't maul people nearly as often as dogs do. :)

I agree, our two cats are both very loving and affectionate. Heck, I gave them their first real bath the other night and neither one of them even holds a grudge, as compared to some other cats I have had in the past :), though they do maul each other on occassion for fun.
