Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Hello from KarenInTheWoods and Steveio

THE WORK-A-DAY WORLD still has us in it's grips!

But yes, we will go full-time in April 2013. We have a 38ft Safari DP motorhome and go almost every weekend, spring summer and fall. Chomping at the bit to sell the house and goooo. We get about 8 weeks of vacation a year to travel, and lots of long weekends....

Karen is semi-retired due to health problems, but manages to be a weaver, knitter, spinner and beader with shop on Etsy.
http://kareninthewoods.etsy.com/

Steve is an employee of University of Wisconsin, Green Bay. He has worked for the state of Wisconsin since the age of 19, and can retire at 55.  wheeee

But when on the road, we plan to do some hosting, some sales (with my Etsy items) and hubby is good for any tasks, construction, repairs etc to barter his services as we go along to supplement the pension.

We have 3 grown kids, 1 grandkid, and 2 more grandkids on the way.  We also have 2 furballs, a Shetland Sheepdog named Duke and a Collie named Duchess.  They own the motorhome, and we are just allowed to drive them to new places to sniff.

We both grew up camping, and myself, as a teen, we even lived our entire summers in a county campground while my father hosted, and also did off the cuff repairs for surrounding folks. He was always lending a hand.   Our kids were also raised camping, over the years in tents, pop-ups, travel trailers and now motorhomes.  Kids are grown and now grandkids coming down the pike.  Our grown kids are now camping too, and sometimes join us.  This weekend in fact, 2 of our 3 grown kids are going camping, in tents of their own now.  How cool is that? The seeds are planted.....

We are avid boondockers, as most of our national forest campgrounds around WI and U.P. of MI are no hookups anyhow. So we have become frugal in water and electric use by nature, and when we DO happen to camp at a place with hook-ups, it's funny to see us still be frugal and conservative!  LOL

We enjoy a lot of the same things that Howard and Linda do, the nature, the birds, the photography, fishing, and our Sterns inflatable kayak/canoe    But hubby dear gave up the golf clubs a few years after some knee surgeries.

I use the term *camping* loosely... but anywhere we go in our motorhome, whether its touring the country, parked in the folks yard in Florida, or a Walmart enroute, I still call it *camping*.  Old habits die hard.

Lots of our camping photos on picassweb link below---------

Karen, followed your post on another site, RV Pics or one of those, and enjoyed it very much...I believe you and several others were visiting several Florida parks at the time.  You seem to make the most of your camping outings and are very interesting in relaying your adventures to the reader.   Thanks for sharing and looking forward to more of your updates.   Thanks,  Marty

Hi Marty....  thanks for the welcome.. you too Jim~!

Yes, we try to sneak down to Florida for 4-5 weeks each winter, and visit the folks.  We found nice rustic camping in the Ocala National Forest at Fore Lake.  Amazing, we found lots of open sites in the middle of March in Florida! (no hookups, but quiet, cheap and clean)

I love RVPics as they thrive on photos over there.  But I can be sure to share some of my photos here too.  Mostly, I put my pics on Picassa, at the album in my signature.

I just recently found RvDreams.com and started reading about Howard and Linda's adventures.  So now I am reading back all the archives, up to September 2006 right now.  I used to reach Tioga George daily, but we are not as interested in camping in Mexico, so now I just go to read his a few weeks at a time.  Someone else suggested RVDreams and we found out  that it's right up our alley and our kind of folks!

We would like to say "Welcome" as well.

While we aren't on the road either, we are planning on the full-time adventure ahead of us.  Our home is up for sale and once it sells, we hope to buy what is in our signature below.

I'm looking forward to looking at your pictures (nice looking dogs, by the way), and I hope to soon break down and get posted on smugmug.  Photography is one of my passions as well.

Terry

Thanks for the welcomes, Speedy and Terry.....

We are home this weekend (for once) and not camping.

But next weekend I am driving our rig 45 miles to a niece's wedding and parking in the banquet hall parking lot. Place to shower and change clothes as Steve will meet me there when he is done with work.

Then the next day we are driving on further to the kids' inlaws to park in their rural yard. It's our grandson's first birthday party. We will help with set up, party, and then sit around a campfire into the evening with them and spend the night again in our rig.

What is nice by taking the motorhome, we can have our dogs along in the rig, and not have to run back home to let them out between the wedding and reception... or to drive back home that night with possible alcohol consumption.... and be an extra fridge to transport food instead of using coolers for the birthday party!

Me, too.  I loved your posts about painting your Winnebago yourself.
Feels good to know I'm not the only one.
Welcome to the most well-behaved RV forum on the net!

Awww thanks for the nice welcomes everyone!

I am STILL reading all of Howard and Linda's posts in the blog since the beginning... I am up to October 2007.  Gee, almost two years to go yet, at 365 posts a year?

They are so informative, enjoyable and down-to-earth!  Right now I read about how Howard is hot-dawg bun challenged, and their fiddling with the satTV after just getting the internet modem updated with new software.

But I am also getting the current daily blog posts too, so I don't get behind, IF I ever get caught up!  LOL

We also have followed Karen in the Woods on other sites and glad that you made it here.  We have been here for over two years even though we did change our screen name and lost our post count.
We also have a Safari as our home and just love everything that goes with it.  Being fulltimers for over two years it has suited us well.
Good luck in your future journeys.

Ahhh....  Fellow Serengeti-ites!  (is that a word?)

We just coated the roof on ours last night, I will start a new subject with photos of the process.  Gotta keep it in shape to be our home in a few years!

I will go check out your blog, once I catch up on Howard and Linda's!
