Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Washer/Dryer Reprise

Some of the motorhomes we are considering have a combined washer/dryer unit and some do not.

I did a forum search and found and read the threads on this topic, but they are several years old.

I am wondering, if after several more years of experience if anyone has changed their mind about their washer/dryer or no washer/dryer preference???????

This subject has been discussed over and over. If you search for washer/dryer in the search box you'll find 2 discussions of 42 and 16 responses from only a few months ago.
These should give you an idea of current thinking.
Good luck,

I apologize if my question is too soon a repeat.

In my search before posting I just found two threads on this issue.  Maybe I missed some.

One of the prior thread's responses were all in 2007, and most of the other one's responses were in 2006 and 2007, though there were some in ''08, and '09.

I just wondered if any/many had a change-of-heart on the issue.

We have a stacked set by whirlpool. Works great.

Saves trips to the laundry and we can wash everything to get it ready for the next trip before we leave the RV resort.

I hated sitting in the laundromat waiting for the clothes to get done. Now we can do whatever we want while the clothes are washing and drying.

Also don't have to worry about having enough quarters to do a load.

We don't have one and either get things done at the campground or a fast trip up into town to do the chore once every 5 to 10 days works fine for us.

That said I don't mind laudromats.

I think that is the key point if you hate to go out for laudry your not going to suddenly love it because your RVing.

Our majestic washer and dryer just bit the dust, we do not recomend that brand. We are replacing them with Whirlpool separate stack units [same as Kenmore] We had to go to the landramat while waiting on our units that are ordered, cost over $25 to do a weeks laundry. We are happy when we can do our laundry in our own trailer. We are generallly on 30 amp.

There are a lot of things we would rather be doing than waiting on clothes at the laundry. We have the combo washer/dryer and love it.

We have the Splendide all in one. The wife would not be without it, but then she detests laundromats. smile.gif

I have the Splendide all-in-one and I love it. I've learned that if I don't do a load with sufficient drying time, then the clothes will come out really wrinkled. The machine is quiet and very good at taking dirt and stains out of my clothes. It hasn't been a problem to wash the required smaller loads either. I personally hate going to laundromats, so if my Splendide ever dies, I'll probably replace it with a stacked washer/dryer combo.

I have a stackable Kenmore and love them both. Hate laundrymats and dirty clothes piling up.

Splendide cobo unit here. We are both still working and are fulltiming in our 5th. We have had the w/d installed for about 6 months now and love it. We only get 2 days off per week and sure would hate to have to spend time in a laundrymat on our day off!

We have the vented model, works great, washing every day or two. We use it as our cloths hamper.

Instead of adding to the love it/ hate it debate.... can I offer another use of our Splendide Combo? (when not in use of course)

When we leave our rig for a long walk or go fishing, I take our laptop, camera, purse, wallet and anything valuable and set them inside the washer/dryer with a dark blue towel on top. If we were ever to be broken into, hopefully it would be the last place someone would look for any goodies!

We have owned two motorhomes that had the Splendide combo washer/dryer. Although the load capacity is not the same as the washer/dryer I had in my sticks and bricks home it is very convenient. IMO the secret is in not overloading it - that is when things begin to wrinkle. I also take many things out and hang them up inside the MH to dry. I dry our underclothes etc. If I have a big load such as sheets I take those to the laundrymat. Of course, you can only use the washer/dryer if you have sewer and water hookups. Otherwise, off to the laundrymat we go.

I like my washer/dryer but it is something that I could certainly live without if I had to.
