Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Beaufort / Parris Island South Carolina

I need some help from anyone who may know this area. Our son is graduating from Marine Corps Boot Camp at Parris Island on September 4th and we are trying to find a campground as close as possible. I normally would take my chances but this is Labor Day weekend and campsites will be hard to come by so we're trying to reserve something now and I just do not see anything near there.

Can someone recommend to us a campground as close as possible?

Thanks,

Rollie & Gina

Hi Rollie,

If you go to Google maps and put in "campground near Parris Island, SC" you'll come up with a number of choices.

Have a great time,

Fred

Rollie,

Been in and around Beaufort/PI for years.  There are not many campgrounds really close by, but there are some within a doable distance.  Hunting Island State Park is about 14 miles from PI.  It is a beautiful state park on a barrier island with a lighthouse for you two to climb to see if the marine recruit wins.

There is also Tuck in the Wood CG on St. Helena Island that would be about 6 - 8 miles from PI.  Being it is Labor Day, Hunting Island State park may already be booked and it would be a zoo.  Tuck in the Wood is not a resort or terribly upscale, but it is a nice place.

Check out www.rvparkreview.com for what users say.  My father lifed on St. Helena Island, and I love the area.  Tuck in the Wood is worthy of staying, particularly when the campground is not your reason for going.  It is a place to stay.  Congrats on your son's graduation!  Not an easy feat!  It will serve him well for a lifetime!!!

If you have other questions about the area, PM me.  Would love to help you.  There is a decent KOA about 30 miles away.

Charles

Thank you Roz, I was hoping that there was someone who knew the area. I always check rvparkreviews. Looking at a map I was just unsure how the area was laid out and was hoping that someone could help me and you did just that.

Thanks
