Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Dual Panes - how do you know?

If you're buying a used 5th wheel from a private seller & they say the windows are dual pane - how do you know for sure?  Can you tell by looking at them?

I should think so. Our stix-n-bricks has dual pane windows and you can tell.  Instead of looking out the window, look down at the bottom of the window frame where the window panes fit into it. You should be able to see that there are two panes of glass fitting in there. But you will have to LOOK and not take somebody's word for it to be sure. There is a dead air space between the two window panes, which is why you can see that there are two window panes fitting into the window frame.

I had a dealer show me how he makes sure they a Dual Pane, he lit a Bic Lighter and held it by the window and told me if you see two flames in the window it is a Dual Pane.

I tried both suggestions. I couldn't see the two panes (I could with house windows) but the flame thing works really well.

Open a window and check out the edge, should be two panes of glass with a seal between them.
