Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
We are Ken (the big ugly one), Vilma (the little cute one) and the Grandpups (the furry ones without thumbs). The Grandpups are 2 English Springer Spaniels. I was raised in the country close to small towns all over the South. We did a lot of moving around and tent camping. Vilma was raised in a Nipa hut in a small village in the Philippines (think Gilligan's Island hut). When the kids were very small we lived in a travel trailor for about 2 years and enjoyed it a lot. We moved into a sticks-n-bricks as they got older and we accumulated "stuff". We currently live in Houston, TX. When the first kid left for college we moved from a 2-story house to a much smaller 1 story. Now the last has gone to college so we are planning to move into an RV of some kind. I keep telling them we are going to keep downsizing until they quit coming home. We intend to pay cash for our rig and live in it and work here in Houston until we are debt free and have a nest egg saved up. Then we are heading on the road. Well, that's enough hot air from me for today. I have really enjoyed reading all of your posts in the forums.
Well sounds like you have a plan. Sherri and I followed a simular plan starting about 35 years ago and have been working on it ever sense. We have about 4 more months of working and then I will be retiring and heading out. We have tried out all types of RVs over the years Motorhomes, 5th wheels, trailers, pop-ups and PU campers...and finally settled on our Carri-lite 5th wheel. You will find that not having to deal with the stix and brix responsibilities will be a weight lifted from you. Now that is not to say that you wont have things to do when you are on the road...Nay Nay...you will have to take care of your home on wheels. By reading this forum and asking questions here you will be able to do a much better job of that. Knowing a head of time what to expect sure makes life on the road much easier.
Sherri and I welcome you and I know all our friends here at RV Dreams will be introducing themselves here shortly. We hope that you post often and keep us all up to date on your progress. If any of us here can be of assistance in any way please feel free to ask.
Welcome to the forum Ken and Vilma. Sounds like a good plan, hope it all works out for you. Look forward to seeing both of you (and the grandpups) on the road.

Recently, we found out that our oldest son and his wife are going to have our third grandchild sometime in September or the first of October.
I called our real estate agent and told her that she better get on the stick and get our brix and stix sold so we can get the camper we want. That way, maybe we can stay just one step ahead of the babysitting.
As Speedy would say, that there is a PLAN!
Seriously, it would more likely be that we would be more able to go see the grandkids. (Oh, and their parents too.) There is the possibility that my son may get one of two jobs in the south. If so, when we retire, we can make sure we winter near the little ones.
And just as a side note, Jo has a cousin who married a girl from the Phillipines. He was also stationed there. She's a great gal.
Anyway, good luck with the planning. This is a good place to come for ideas or advice. Just about everyone here is friendly and willing to help.
Terry
