Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Looking for rv park in San Diego area?

Hi everyone
We are looking for an rv park in the San Diego area.  I want to check out the San Diego Zoo and such.  We know they can be pricey, but would like to hear if anyone has any recommondations.

Debbie...Jo and Fred had some place on the coast that they stayed at. It had an ocean view from what I remember and it was not too high priced either.

We recently stayed at the Chula Vista RV Resort in Chula Vista which is close to San Diego.  It's a very nice place although it is certainly pricey.  We were with a camping club so we were able to get a nice discount.  It's right on a Marina, a beautiful area, close to many attractions.

If you have Passport America there are three local choices.  We stayed at Santa Fe Park on Passport America and the spaces were tight, the freeway was close by so a bit noisy, but it was comparatively cheap and easy to get around town from.  The other two Passport America parks do not take advanced reservations.
It is also a good area for Elks camping if an Elk.
We have membership camping in the area now, so that is where we stay.

We stayed at Campland on the Bay last December and January. They are Passport America for 10 days max, but apparently have gotten more strict on their reservations for PA. Even so, it is a great location on Mission Bay. You can get into town on the backroads in 15 minutes or less, and Sea World is just as close. It is also near the interstate, but far enough away to not have a lot of traffic noise. We would rather stay there for the dollars than our free membership park in the area.

Thanks everyone for the ideas and suggestions--we do so appreciate it.  After much research, I think we may stay at Santee Lakes.  We will have to wait till the end of March to get the spot we want, but that is ok.  Our plans, like many of yours, are often set in "jello".confuse

We've stayed at Santee Lakes a couple of times and think it's the best park in the area. It's about a 20-30 minute drive to the ocean side of San Diego. Great park, and loads of birds if you're interested in birding.
