Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Wannabe.. especially today

Introduction of a new member: I've read the RV-Dreams blog regularly for quite a while, and surfed these forums off and on.  We bought our first RV in Feb of '08, a perfect-for-us fifthwheel, a Hitchhiker II 32.5 LKSBG.  Last year due to family issues we weren't able to get out on the road until May, and over the course of the rest of the year we spent 93 wonderful days on the road.

Today, we just got back from an 11 day trip to find the house furnace belching smoke into the basement, and a bunch of piled up chores glaring at us.  Coming 'home' is more stressful than being on the road!  I'm on a hair's edge of chucking it all and moving on down the road for good.  I was reading the 'helpful hints' section of the website and telling DH I needed to stop, it's giving me ideas.

I hope to get many more ideas, and open my mind to all the possibilities for life on the road and off, on these great forums!

Welcome to the forum,

Oh yes, I can remember those days when we would come back home from visiting one of our kids, and find water running across the floor, or tree branches down all over the yard from a storm that passed through while we were gone, Or, coming back to find that the guy that was supposed to mow the grass while we were gone, decided he didn't want to do it, and now the grass was almost a foot high?

Would you believe that I haven't mowed grass, shoveled snow or trimmed trees or bushes for almost 8 years? biggrin

Like NorCal Dan said, there's lots of friendly folks here on this forum who are more than willing to help with your questions, so be sure to ask. Someone will surely be able to help.

Jim

*whine!*  Now that's where I'd like to be!  Unfortunately it looks like the furnace fiasco might result in cutting back on our travel this year. disbelief

Thanks folks for your kind responses!

Like Jim said when we would return home it never failed that we would have some problem to deal with. We sold the house last year and no longer have those problems. Now I am still working and will retire this summer. We live full time in our RV and don't get to travel much but I don't have to worry about the house any more. No.. all my problems are about half as bad and my budget is about half too. I will never return to living in a Stix and Brix...when I get tired of the view I just move to a new site.

Sounds great to me!

We refer to the fiver as our cabin by the lake, or the shore, or the mountains.

DH works from home and his boss has told him it doesn't matter too much where 'home' is really parked.  Unfortunately we do have to keep a house; my MIL lives with us and she needs a stable locale.
