Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

I'm going to be one of you...in...2025!

In 1974 my Dad came home...dragging a thing...he called it a camper...I'm not sure what we called it...but the next thing I knew...we were at Mogadore Park in Kent...camping.  A couple of years later, we were in a Krown fold-down.  In 1976 we moved up to a 25ft Corsair travel trailer.  We camped from the tip of Ontario Province to the tip of Florida every single summer.  I was, am, an only child...and my parents were a bit older than the traditional parents.  Camping was something that we all enjoyed and did together.  We moved from Akron, Ohio to Cookeville, Tennessee in 1981 after my graduation from high school.  I attended college at Tennessee Tech.  My parents spent the summers at our camper at Springwood Lake, just outside of Canton, Ohio.

I began teaching in Carthage, Tennessee in 1985 as a special education teacher.  In 1989 I met Tony and we were married in 1991.  We didn't have children by choice, and somehow or another, in 2002, we adopted a brother and sister.  They were 14 and 15 years old.  Both have graduated from high school.

I was looking forward to retirement in 2015.  Life has a way of throwing things at you.  In April of 2008 we were given custody of the girl's 9 month old son!!!  Talk about a wrinkle in my plans...my face too!  He is gorgeous, funny, smart...and it looks like he's going to live with Lala and Poppy for a very long time.  Of course, our son, 20 years old now says he's not moving out til he's 44...soooooo...

My husband and I have tent-camped over the years, but I told him that I was too old and the baby had too much gear to haul around in a tent.  He wanted to buy a camper, but I kept saying we couldn't afford one, or that Tez, our son, wouldn't like it...excuses...all of them excuses...

In October, we found a camper that would meet our needs... and that we could afford...no debt!!!...We went on our first camper camping outing in October and again in November... We can't wait for March...when we will begin again.

We are Tony and Lisa Hembree.  We look forward to showing our son and grandson what camping is all about and we look forward to full-timing in 2025!!!

Welcome to the forum.

Yes, those wrinkles do mess with your plans. Maybe home schooling would be a way for you to hit the road in 2015.

Well...I am sure I have missed you in Chat...I am Speedy... I have been absent because my DSL has been giving me trouble . I hope to catch you in there soon and we can be introduced. It is always great to have new folks join in with us. Sherri and I wish you good times to come and I know 2025 will be here before you know it. You are doing a good thing giving that boy a good home and teaching him about the outdoors through RVing. These will be memories that will last you and him for many years to come.

God bless you

Sherri and Joe

Thank you all for the welcome.  I've stopped in the chat a few times and I've read several blogs.  It's amazing how much time I spend reading those blogs!

I've taken the advice of several in the chat and have started a blog of my own.  It is NOTHING compared to the ones I've read, but I'm going to give it a shot.  It will be not only to dream about being with all of you on the road, but to also serve as a diary of sorts for Tez and Rick.  Tez is our son, and Rick is the son of our daughter.  We adopted Tez and his sister in 2002, and have had custody of Rick since April of 2008.

Again, thanks for the welcome, and Mr. Speedy...I've left a message on your blog.

Lisa

I forgot to add the address!
