Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
I found a wonderfully well maintained 21 foot 5th wheel (I'm single so its lots of room) with a dry weight of 3800 pounds. Can my Ford F150 302 V8 with auto (overdrive) tranny pull this with no issues please?

You don't say what year it is, nor whether it's a 6' or 8' bed, but the towing guide for 2008 model year shows towing capacities in the 6-7,000# range for fifth wheel trailers.
You should be able to find info on your exact year and model in the Trailer Life towing guides which are on their site.
We have a 2008 Ford F450 King Ranch Crew Cab for sale if there's anyone interested. We bought it with the anticipation of going full time, but plans changed and we are trying to sell the truck. Bought it new in 2007 and it has 10K miles on it. Contact us here if you or anyone you might know would be interested. It's a great truck for pulling 5ers! We were looking at Hitchickers and Tetons when we bought the truck.

I use to pull a 23ft 4000lb travel trailer with a 1978 dodge ramcharger rated to tow 6000lbs. It had a 318 V8 and 3 speed automatic. It handled the trailer fine, good braking and enough power to stay out of the way of traffic on the highways.
However, once you hit a hill of any size or grade, you had to get down into 1st gear and would travel up the hill at 20MPH.
That was the only draw back to the small V8.
We used this combination for many years and were happy with it.
Fifth wheel trailers are a lot easier to tow and more stable due to the hitch being over the rear axle.
As long as you don't have the need to speed up hills the 1/2 ton should work well.
