Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

house has sold

Well it's done.  Our house is sold.  We have to vacate October 24.  A little nervous about the whole thing.  We are wondering what club is the best for fulltimers if any? (Escapee ?????) We were heading for Florida first, however some places are very expensive and very overwhelming since there are many out there. Wondering if anyone could help us in choosing a spot? Thanks.

We will be in Florida for 6 months.  We are staying in Avon Park, which is in the middle of the state south of Orlando.  We picked this park because it is clean and friendly and has a lot to offer, as far as activities.  We had looked at several parks in the spring and picked this one.  It is inland and less expensive than parks along the coast.

All we can say is to use the internet to locate a  park you might like. Be also aware that the pictures don't always tell the story.

Every one has different ideas of a park that they to stay in as we all have different tastes in life, so for us to suggest a park is like trying to sell you something you might not use.

We will tell you  the name of the park if you PM us.

Congratulations on the sale of your house!  We hope to do the same within the next 6 months.

From what I have heard Escapees is a great organization for fulltimers and they have campgrounds all over the country.  We will join Escapees when we go fulltime.

Here's a link to campground reviews which should help:

It does get expensive and crowded in Florida in the winter so it would be best to get some reservations soon.  However with the high fuel prices and down economy it may not be as crowded this year.

Good luck!

Thanks for the reply.  You are right about sites.  However can you give me the name of your campground?  I'll check it out.  Thanks.

You are one of the fortunate few. Congratulations on selling your house.

In my opinion Escapees is a far superior organization that Good Sam.  Once you join Good Sam your local post office will have to hire two carreirs to service your mail box because of all the junk mail that Good Sam will send to you.

Escapees aslo has a very extensive forum with a ton of information that you
can research.

Congrats liketowin and happy travels to you!

We'll be in Florida this winter also at Florida Grande, which is near Bushnell, about 8 miles from the Escapees park at Sumter Oaks.

DO join Escapees...it is a terrific organization and you'll have the benefit of using the parks too.

Judy, give us a call when you get to Fl...we'll have to do a gathering in FL for those that are there!   Would love to meet all of you!    You too Speedy!
Hugs!

Thanks for your help.  I guess in Canada real estate is better.  The second people who came in our house bought it.  Houses sell quickly here.  They don't stay on the market long. Hopefully things get better in USA soon.

SO DO WE! House on market almost 6 months. No serious interest. Daughter thinking about buying it but has to sell her condo first.

"When" we do sell, we head to Livingston to become TX residents. Yes, Escapees seems to be the way to go, at least for us.

Again, congrats!!!!

We also recommend joining Passport America as their discounts really help. It is a 50% off club and is very inexpensive to join. Their website is www.passport-america.com. Good luck and congrats on the sale of the house!

Congrats!!!! That is great news.

We also recommend Passport America - you will save the most (50%) with this club.  I love paying only $12-$15 for a nice campsite.

Thanks for the reply. Does Passport America give you that much of a discount if you're staying for a month at a time?

It seems to me that most RV parks that belong to Passport America will only honor the 50% discount for one or two nights.  I don't think I've stayed at any that honor the discount for more than just a few days like that.  Nevertheless, if you travel, it pays to belong to PA because only using it a couple of times pays the annual membership fee.

Some times off season, PA will honor the 50% longer. We stayed in New Hampshire and it was to be for only MOnday to Thursday but they gave the discount to us for the entire 8 days. Never hurts to ask.

Again, congrats!
