It's all about money. How much would you be willing to spend to make the changes.

If it's a new RV from a dealer they may be able to change decor at a relatively low cost. They would switch items from one model to another since the manufacturers tend to use the same style/type of furniture in all of their models just different colors and fabrics.

We've changed the decor in two of the RV's we've had. Both times we did the window treatments , floors and misc. decor items about $300. The furniture was taken to an upholstry shop and changed over to our choice of fabrics. Sofa and chairs about $1500. We had to remove a window to get the sofa out on one of the RVs.

There's a shop here in California (long way for you to drive) that specializes in RV interiors, including adding slideouts to non-slideout RV's.

Depending on what I have to spend for the RV itself, I guess I may have to just deal with the existing decor for a while. Are the sofas in an RV a non-standard size? Are they free standing or bolted in? You can't just exchange one sofa for one you have in the living room of your house, or one that you buy in a furniture store? Thanks.

The sofa sleeper in our current 5th wheel is the same as what you would buy for a house. It would be very simple to reupholster.

Some sofas and other furniture in RVs are custom models due to space limitations. Some are bolted down. Some are actually built in.

A good upholsterer will be able to work on a sofa even if it is built in. As long as they are willing to do the work inside of your RV. They may charge an extra fee for a difficult job.

Like "they" always say, "You can get anything you want as long as you have the money to pay for it".

We had the furniture and the window decor changed out on our 5th wheel when we bought it. They wanted to charge us but we told them we would cancel and they said OK we will do it. We still have issues with the cheap carpet but we can change it out when we have the money. I would like to get leather furniture some day. Sherri put the boarder up in ours and did a wonderful job. There is so much you can do for yourself and save a bundle of money.

The only thing I hate about our fiver is the vertical blinds on the back window. They will come down before we fulltime. The will be replaced by drapery. Our upholstery fabric is suitiable as are the carpets, flooring and rest of the window treatments. Anyone else ever remove verticals and replace with drapes? Is it easy to do?

When we ordered our 5th wheel, we deleted the chairs in our livingroom. We live in a 40ft toyhauler, and wanted to bring our recliners from home. We had already measured and knew that they would fit. The window treatments are very easy to change out. I have done our bedroom twice and I am currently working on changing out the livingroom. I agree about the cheap carpeting, and like Speedhitch said, we plan on switching it out when we have the money.
