Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.


We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

    My Wife (Sharon) and I have owned several RV's during our working years, and now we are currently seeking full time rving.  We have searched the web for information to help in this effort, and this site was highly recommended.

    We have a 2002 Pace Arrow with 2 slides & a towable Isuzu Amigo.  We have used our RV's for weekend travel and we now have it set-up at our home for visiting friends and relatives (which has worked out fine for everyone).

    We are in the process of selling our home.  We have had several yard and garage sales and have downsized considerably which will continue. 

    We don't know where we will be traveling too, however we don't like the idea of traveling to other countries (Canada Excluded).  So USA here we come.

    We've thought about being Camp Hosts, but we are not sure how we will fit in with the work requirements.  We are not afraid of greeting and overseeing guests but we don't relish the thought of cleaning out toilets.  Is there another way to augment the cost of full time RVing?

Welcome to the RV-Dreams forum. 

We also plan on workamping/volunteering beginning next year.  And I don't like doing toilets, either.  Had 3 1/2 bathrooms in our sticks and brickscry.  Now I only clean one in our motorhome.  aww

Join Workamper.com and talk to other campground hosts.  Some state and federal parks use volunteers as campground hosts and hire out the cleaning.  There's a wide variety of opportunities out there.  We've made a point of visiting with campground hosts this year to learn more about who they work for and how they got their jobs. 

And always ask questions on this forum.  This family is very diversified and a wealth of information.

Welcome to the forum! We are also in the process of selling our house. There is so much information on this forum for you to read. Ask all the questions you want and you will get a tremendous response from the members.  I also do not like to clean bathrooms!! We have 2 in our house and will look forward to only cleaning one in the RV. We are also considering doing some workamping and did join workamper.com. Greetings, Sharon and Sam!

We are camphosting in a small, adults only, private campground.  The restrooms are part of the gig.  However the above criteria when coupled with the fact most in MH and Fivers do not use the restrooms removes 99% of the problem.

Additionally, they are cleaned daily with chemicals and they never are "bad".  Sure someone occasionally is not thoughtful, but it has not become a dreaded chore.

For between three and four hours a day for three days a week, we get a full hookup site, with cable TV, two WiFi accounts and free propane.  We love it here and the owner is wonderful to work with.

Being on the coast of Maine awaking each morning in the high 50's to low 60's is wonderful.  Did I mention the wonderful seafood?  But the best part are all of the nice guests.  The price is not cheap and the "adults only" brings in considerate guests.

Keep an open mind about what you are willing to do.  It may surprise you what comes up.

Welcome to the forum.  As the others have said, there is a wealth of information on the RV Dreams website.

While I will admit that bathroom cleaning is pretty bad, I think I'd rather do that than mowing the yard.  Seems to me it would take less time to do.  (Plus, it doesn't hurt that I have a terrible sense of smell, due to years of smoking and working with propane and annhydrous ammonia.)

Welcome and good luck in your venture.  We have been fulltiming for several years nows.  And, by that, I mean we live in our motohome.  We still have a sticks and bricks house, but our daughter and her family live in it.  We just come and go.  I know what you mean about the workkamper gig, I think it would be fun, but we have never tried it.  Join us in the chat room sometime.  It is like a 20 way conference call.aww

Welcome,
How exciting to be starting this new life. Such a beautiful country we have to explore.
I feel the same as you as far as cleaning toilets.. We workcamped for 2 months last year at a Fl State campground. We didnt have to do toilets, they pay someone to do that job. IWe drove a shuttle, cleaned sites, worked in office, picked up trash. Had alot of fun and met great people. Going back in Oct. There are alot of workcamp jobs out there. Just subscribe to workamper news and read all about it.
