Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
We realize that many of you live in areas where a Tornado is expected, but here in New Hampshire it is not something we are use to believe me, and we had one here and it was scary. Here on the seacoast we only had a warning and the blackest sky we ever saw...then wind and buckets of rain. However west of here about about 16 miles or so they had a tornado and a 57 year old woman was killed minding her little baby grandchild. So sad. They had no warning, and certainly did not expect a Tornado. Larry and I rode over there today, and it was so horrific as the homes were flat. Just nothing like this in NH is common. We just get ice storms !!!! Bad, but different. The weather is changing everywhere. So we thought...wow we will surely buy a weather radio like Linda & Howard when we sell the house, and go on the road. Certainly a good investment. Here is a site to see the area for yourself. Having a warning to seek shelter really hit home after seeing the area here at home. Arlene http://www.wmur.com/weather/16988154/detail.html

We spent last summer in New Hampshire and with all of the mountains and valleys it is hard to fathom how a tornado can appear. While in NH we did have a radio but very few alerts, and then only for heavy rain. We were never in Deerfield but, close as we stopped at the Camping World in Chichester.
Yes, tornadoes are horrific. Having lived in "tornado alley" all my life, I have seen the destruction first hand.
By all means get a good weather radio, and keep an eye on the sky if there are forecasts of severe weather in the area you are in. Being that both Linda and I have grown up in the Midwest and are used to tornado watches and warnings, we probably don't take cover in a sturdy building as often as we should.
Always find out what county you are in, locate nearby towns on a map, and have that weather radio on, if the skies look like there might be a storm coming your way. As you know, tornadoes can cause a lot of damage, so if there is a warning in your area, take cover immediately!
I guess the only good thing i can say about a tornado, is that it usually has a relatively narrow path of destruction. It can pass quite close without creating much damage near by.
Don't let tornadoes stop you from your travels. A few years ago, I met a couple in a CG in FL that were heading up to Ontario, and they were going to try to go around the central part of the U.S. because they had heard that there had been tornadoes in Kansas, Nebraska and Iowa, and were afraid to go there.
Just be aware of the weather conditions and take appropriate actions if necessary. You'll be fine.

jdensie ....the tornado occured only about 5 miles from the Chichester Camping Wprld store on Rte 4. A matter of fact Arlene and I went there yesterday on the way to see the area hit.....on Rte 4 on Northwood Lake....and across the lake is Deerfield. Yes...we were all amazed as like you said New England does not get tornadoes usually.
Jim thanks for the info too, and no it will not keep us home or from traveling anywhere....Arlene is retired from the Travel industry, and you'd have to tie her down to keep her from traveling, and seeing all those beautiful midwest towns up close will be so great. Not just airports. Your advice to just be aware and use the radio is right on. Going to go on and look at whatever Howard and Linda have and pick one up. Thanks ... Larry
