Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

What's your favorite park near Rapid City SD?

We are planning on visiting Rapid City for a week in May. If you've stayed there, what's your favorite park? How about the least expensive that includes elec/water? Just looking for suggestions.

thx...

I think now days the least expensive is your favorite Park..LOL. Maybe we should start a list of least expensive parks that have that bang for the buck??? And all the cheap diesel stations on the way..

As for commercial CGs, Custer's Gulch Campground (I had Site 60). What a perfect campground. Great sites, clean, quiet, away from the road in it's own little gultch yet next to the state park entrance and 2 miles from town (Custer) and no distractions like pools and putt putt in the campground.

Custer SP is superb w/ numerous CGs too... I stayed in Blue Bell CG and it was another perfect SP facility. 43.71632  -103.47808

But then again, I like it more rustic than not...

We spend our summers in Custer every year.  We own a small piece of property and really like the small town atmosphere.  There are several C/G's in the area and Custer Gulch is one of the better ones.  There is also another nice little C/G off the beaten path but very nice and they have "BIG RIG" sites.  The owners are friendly and all of our friends who stay there love it.  They come and plan to stay a week or so and end up staying a month.smile  The name is Broken Arrow Campground and their website is:  www.brokenarrowcampground.com.  Their prices are better than most in that area.

Last fall we stayed at the Rafter J Bar Ranch in Hill City. Just a little south of Rapid City.  It was probably the most beautiful campground we have ever stayed in.  Close to Mt. Rushmore (a must see) and Crazy Horse (?).

We stayed at Big Pine Campground in Custer a couple of years ago. It was a nice place. We would stay there again.

We just came from Hill City area and enjoyed Horsethief campground.....about 3 miles from Hill City and up the road that leads to Custer State Park and the Needles highway. That campground was off the noisy highways, but close and peaceful... Very nice owners, sites pullthrough mostly, alittle close, but nice. Price may have been $36....we have Camp Club USA and the rate was cut in half.
