Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
Has anyone used Good Sams RV Insurance? Read up on it some but I know they are going to tell you all the good "Stuff" about it. Now I want to know if any of our family here has used it and what the real story is. It is suppose to pay good on your repairs and so forth. Any light you can shed on this subject would be appreciated.
We purchased it last year about this time. Cost almost $400.00 for our 2002 Cedar Creek Fiver. Got this years bill last week. Never used it. Will not renew. Between the $400 a year and the $200.00 deductible - I can't see that it will be worth it. Few things go wrong with a Fiver. Also, it will only insure orginial equipment. Our TV is a replacement. Not covered.
We are having some issues with the refrig. It freezes EVERYTHING. Thanks for the reminder. We need to get it looked at before insurance runs out - just in case!
We got an estimate one time from Good Sam to compare it with our current insurance and Good Sam couldn't match it for price or coverage, so we stuck with who we had. However, we do have their Emergency Road Service and recommend it highly. Have had to use it a couple of times and have been very impressed both times.
Good luck.

Assuming that you mean Good Sam's Auto and Rv Casualty insurance.
We have used it exclusively, almost since the first offering. We were originally rated in Florida and no other company could meet their rates and the service has been good. We have had only two claims in the time we have been insured by them. The insurance is underwritten by GMAC.
When we went full time they were happy to give us full timer coverage.
Mike
Remember, where you live (or your rig is registered) affects the rates. Get a quote and make sure the company deals well with full timers.

We are fulltimers with our residency in SD. When we first bought insurance we got our best quote from Campers World which was underwritten by GMAC. When the time for renewal can around we contacted Miller Insurance Agency in Or. We saved about 15% by going with them and it is still underwritten by GMAC. We learned about Miller Insurance Agency here on RV-Dreams. We would like to thank Howard & Linda for pointing us in that direction.
When we still lived in Florida, we stopped by Camper's World and got their quote also. It came in considerably higher than the premium we were paying through Good Sam. I asked why that was since they used the same insurer? They replied that the 2 groups, even though under the same umbrella company, underwrote their risks differently. That, they claimed was the reason Good Sam is lower.
Possibly why Miller's might be lower. It pays to investigate and specify.
Mike

As Florida residents, we got a really good deal through AARP's link with The Hartford Insurance Co. They have RV coverage and even offer full-time coverage. Of course, you have to be old enough to be a member of AARP!
We'll be checking them for a quote when we get back into RVing later this year or next.
