Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
We are still looking!!!!! A couple of weeks ago we thought we had settled on a new Holiday Rambler. This being such a large decision, we took some of your advise and went looking at late model used ones. A local dealer has a 04 Alpha See Ya with 18 K miles that looks good and at a good price. This is our first experience with this make. The dealer says, they are pouplar on the west coast. Has some one out there had experience with this company ? Would you consider this unit for fulltiming ? Thanks, Fay
Friends of our just bought one about 3 months ago and seem to very happy with it. They do not full time. We have been through some of the units when wintering in Tucson this past winter at Freedom Rv....ck out all the possibilities before buying. southwestjudy & Bob & 2blackdogs
We fell in love with the Alfa See Ya in 2004. We continued to look at others since then, but when it came time to purchase, we got a new 2006 40' DP in May 2007. We have lived in it ever since, and just 2 weeks ago we hit the road (I finally retired 9/7/07 YEAH!!!!) We have found it very easy to live in while parked, but we were nervous about the travelling. Well, I am very pleased to tell you, we have traveled 1300 miles in 2 weeks, mostly thru mountainous country in the western states. Our worst worry was in Oregon, getting from I-5 to the Pacific Coast Highway. Only 60 miles, but 2 lanes, mountains, and winding roads. The rig handled like a dream! One thing that seems to plaque Alfa is the big slide motor. On a 2004, has that motor been replaced? Otherwise, we are extremely happy with our decision.
nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!! Stop, please please please don't waste your hard earned money on that rig. You will need to overcome the 'glitts and glimmer' of the whole thing and look at th big picture. All that plastic rubbing making noise going down the road, it's all for initial show. The basement air in that thing is totally messed up too. I seen an Alpha sales video where they explained how their system ''works better than rooftop units because cold air naturally rises'' anyway!! All of us in service hit the floor with laughter, as the sales guys just looked at each other confused. My first experience with Alpha Tech support told us that its normal for the unit'' to take 24-48 hours of cool down time, so just tell the customers to get a hotel room for the first few days while their unit cools down enough to be comfortable''. And the best for people camping in the south in the summer''the coach wasn't designed to be used in weather over 95 deg.''. This is one messed up company, out of the last 6 I've seen go, all had rear pass. side slide room issues, we replaced all the main A/C control boards and 3 thermostats, lots an lots of broken tiles from the chassis flexing, and the absolute best thing I just saw on the new 2008 that just went out was they installed a junction box at the drivers side rear for none other than, thats right everyone a third ''optional''air conditioning unit just to keep you from dying of heat exhaustion as you sleep. It's up to you but i guarantee if you just gotta have that extra 6'' of head room ''I'll SeYa at the dealership""
Judy and I have been looking at motorhomes for many years now and would agree that the See-Ya is not one we would consider. The company has done a great job of incorporating a lot of things that fulltime RVers love but their infrastructure is lacking. They have cut too many corners to make it a viable rig for fulltiming. Try to find a used Newmar Mountainaire or Dutch Star or a Tiffin Pheaton or Allegro Bus. We just looked at a 2004 Mountainaire with two slides that is in great shape and the dealer is asking $129K so you know that you could negotiate. Also, there was a 2002 Alllegro Bus with three slides on RVsearch.com that the owner was asking $98,900. Both of these units had less than 50k miles and both Newmar and Tiffin stand behind their products.
I would highly recommend that you purchase the DVD from RV Consumer Group and take time to do your homework. This is a big purchase and you deserve to get the biggest bang for your buck. Don't be in a rush, prepare a check list that guides you through the process; that will focus you on the essentials before you even start looking at the niceties.
