Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Its Really Happening!!!

Gee, we are making progress!  We have sold our bedroom suite, an entertainment center, all the outdoor furniture and maybe the home entertainment center and 62 inch HDTV (won't fit in the motorhome LOL).  This past Saturday we had a huge yard sale and did very, very well with it.  We are purging and I am beginning to see, visually see, that the house is emptying up.  We are close to listing the house the day after Labor Day.  Wish us well.  As soon as it sells, Mike retires, and life begins!! Wow, it has been a long, long wait with many detours but I believe we just might make it.
Just wanted to share our news with you guys!

Great news! You have our best wishes.

Getting rid of "stuff" is really hard sometimes. We were really lucky, our kids took all of the "family keepsakes", and so it wasn't too bad.

There may be a few more detours, but it will be worth it in the end. Hang in there!

Way to go! I had really good luck with my yard sales last year....now wishing I hadn't managed to acquire so much MORE stuff. LOL! I don't have the inclination, energy or motivation to do a yard sale so am relying on the local freebie online trader, word of mouth, a bunch of stuff going to eBay via a friend and then toss or donate the rest.

I think once I have the motorhome here and can better see where things are going, I'll get it loaded and then it will be easier to deal with what's left. <g>

Anyway....good going!!

That's great news! I hope everything continues to go well, especially with the sale of the house. We're not too far away from you in Columbus, so we're really interested in how well things are moving in the housing market around here... Just read an article on Drudge Report about how a 1-2% decline in median home prices is expected nationwide cry, and I'm afraid if buyers wait for that to happen things will slow down even more... Sorry we couldn't get to FDR to say hi while you were there... one of our old cars finally died, along with the water heater and fridge, so dealing with all that was a major distraction. We've been trying to nurse these old vehicles along to avoid having to buy another, but I guess we'll just have to buy our run-around vehicle like H&L a little earlier than we had planned. Anyway, best of luck with all these preparations!

Tim and Robyn,
Sorry to hear about all of your "breaking" items.  I hate to hear that.  It seems when it rains it pours.  We will let you all know how the house goes.  I think the whole world might know when the house sells, LOL!!  Our realtor told us the market is soft but we have a good address and so that helps a bit.  Oh well time will tell.
Thank you for your well wishes and encouragement.  You all take care and we will keep in touch.  Remember - "this too shall pass" and one day we will all be on the road living our dream.

Donna,
Thanks!  It is so nice to encourage each other along the way isn't it?  Selling some of the items we have sold lately was a little "touching."  I remember reading about you selling the Harley and how that felt, boy can I identify.
We only have a few things left to sell.  Our son will take many things with him to his apartment (after he graduates in May).  We have cleaned out the house and fixed it up and so now we are ready to list.  I think we will list the day after Labor Day.  I know the market is soft, here and everywhere, but our realtor told us we had a good address so we are praying that will help.  Cross your fingers.  We can't begin full-timing until the house sells and Mike can retire.
I agree with you, I don't think I will have another yard sell.  It was the hardest I have ever worked for the money we made.  We did do very well though.  Better than I thought we would do.  We sold everything except a few small things and some clothes.  I have already taken the clothes to Goodwill.
The small stuff might just go in the garbage.
We are still so excited about your new "home."  I know I said this before but it looks just wonderful and so well cared for.  You know the original owners loved it also.  CONGRATS!!!

   Gerri

My youngest daughter and her husband will be here while I'm at the Escapade, they're picking up my living & bedroom furniture. Plus I plan to have all my totes ready for them, or close to it (I'll be babysitting for them the last weekend in Sept so can still cart a few storage totes there then).

It sometimes amazes me how much I still have here to go through....and now that I've gotten more realistic in the size of my RV, I know everything that I planned to take isn't going to make it. So will be going through it all again. LOL!

I really have to remember the "if you haven't worn it - used it - needed it in the last year" rule.

Donna, I totally understand!  I was a teacher for 35 years and you can't imagine all the stuff I have saved because "I might need it sometime."  It really amazes me.  I have started by skimming the surface and getting rid of the obvious "junk."  Now I must get down and dirty and use that one year rule.  Our son has already spoken for the items that we would love to have stay in the family.  He is our only child so there wasn't anybody else to divide with.  He will graduate (college) in May and it looks good for a job opportunity for him in Nashville.  That will also be good for Mike and I because that is his home.
Its one day at a time!
