Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
Has anyone who has a central air conditioning unit ever attempted to recharge a compressor on your own or do you recommend that only a qualified service tech. do it. I have two compressors on mine and the first one doesn't blow cold so the second one is always kicking right in,so it doesn't keep up. Even after doing the recommended cleaning of the coils and checking the filters etc. and of course it is getting warm here in sunny Florida. Any info would be of help.

Well, I guess my best bet is to take it to the dealer, the way the unit is in the rig it looks like it would be difficult to get to and possible a little too heavy for me to handle alone. Thanks anyway.

I was told that these units could not be charged. An HVAC guy told me that he would have to put a charge valve?? on the unit. I think he said that it was a sealed unit. Maybe someone else has more information on this?
Thanks, It was the only component on the coach I didn't get a book on. I've searched the internet and cannot find anything on basement air units. A friend of mine who has one on his alfa fiver told me about the filters and to watch for sand being sucked into the outside air intake. Spraying the coils off and so on. He also had a problem with water not draining properly out of the bottom which prevented the compressor from running properly. well I'm going to get more into this and see what's up. Research - that eight letter word. I can just imagine the cost of replacing one of these. I may convert to roof air in that case. This will be good for posterity..
