For all of you who are already out there on the road, you have no idea how much I envy you. It's now 4:20AM ET. Where I work I'm oncall until midday today. I got rousted out of bed at 2:00AM for a problem that would only have taken 10 minutes to fix.... BUT there are 'proper procedures' that have to be followed first. Thanks to these 'proper procedures' a ten minute fix took more than two hours. Idiocy...There's no point in my going back to bed now because the alarm goes off at 5:00... I cannot WAIT to chuck all this and get out there... One year, four months, 20 days to go.....

I've been retired for 6 years and I still have dreams, no nightmares, about work! What is with that?? I really don't miss work at all so I don't understand why I still have such dreams. Sometimes I wake up smiling when I realize it was only a dream and I can roll over and go back to sleep!! :) I love it.

Now we just can't wait to go full-time and really get into this retirement thing!

My thanks also to you folks still working and paying into Social Security so we can collect our checks every month. I hope someone will be there for you when it's your time to retire!

Unfortunately Bill and Linda there wont be. I could really open up a topic on that subject but I am afraid that Howard would blank me off the forum! It is a shame.

(I'll bet you're not even sick as often anymore)
For many of us full-timers this is true. We are not subject to the germs the other workers bring in. We are also under less stress. We also can get the rest we need and can take it easy when not feeling right and recover better. These all lead to better health.
Of course those who are full-timers who are also worried about how they are going to pay for the next major mechanical problem or fuel fillup might be under more stress. Then there are those who can't stay still and wear themselves out being in vacation mode for months on end. Another way to get sick is help out at your grandkids or other relatives school thus subjecting yourself to lots of germs. We got sick after visiting with some grade school age relatives this winter who brought something home.
It is not a perfect lifestyle to stay healthy, but it beats being in many jobs.

Ah, come on guys - don't worry about Social Security, the Gummint will fix it just like the Immigration Issue and Health Care. They're there to help themselv.., eh I mean, to help us!

Never did call in sick - called in Well a couple of times though!! "It's a beautiful day and I'm feeling great so I'm calling in well today. See ya tomorrow."
