Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

We've Launched!

We left our house for the last time yesterday morning and headed out in the motor home with the Saturn in tow.

Our house listing was published in the MLS and sold the same day!  I was absolutely floored.  We had moved everything out of the house, after discussing all the pros and cons of leaving some furniture to "stage" the place.  Everyone told us it would show better with furniture.  Our real estate agent even told us to get "Caretakers of America" to have a caretaker move in with their furniture.  We went against all the advisors because it would have greatly complicated the process for us to leave anything in the house.   But the very first person to look at it wanted it.  We signed our part of the closing papers before we left, and the final closing is scheduled for May 18.

It's real!  We are fulltimers.  I admit there was a little twinge when we drove off and looked back at the house for the last time.  Not that we were so terribly fond of it, but just the idea that the motor home is now our only home, just gave me a twinge.

I'm sure the twinge I get when the mortgage is paid off and our part of the sale money is deposited into our bank account will be a different sort!

So we're in Amarillo Texas now and will finish up our "becoming Texans" business on Monday.  We'll then head down to Arlington to start looking for an apartment for my mother in law.  She's in Colorado now, but we've decided it would be best to move to Arlington where her sister lives.  That way it will be easier for us to check on her, and she'll be able to visit with her sister more.

What a trip!  A dream realized.

Ellie

Congratulations from a fellow Coloradoan. We hope our property sells fast also.Had our first "Downsizing" Garage sale last weekend. Although we still have 21 months until my retirement it seems like we will never get everything done in time. Enjoy your freedom.

Congratulations from a part time Coloradoan (Westcliffe).

We have been on the road for a little over a year and are enoying it.  However, the trashed Florida real estate is a problem.  House has been shown only 3 times.

Wow! Big CONGRATS to you for selling your house in 1 day! In my neighborhood (Denver area) homes are sitting for a year or more before they sell - if they sell at all.

Same here in South Florida. Our house has been on the market for 13 months now and we have had probably about 10 showings total. Oh well, I'm trying to stay positive. This WILL happen!!  smile

Thank you all for the congrats!  We certainly wish each of you all the best in selling your homes.  I really was expecting to have our place sit for awhile because of the current market.  I think it was a total miracle to have such a quick turn around.

Now on the other side, we had a tire blow out on our tow car on the way to Amarillo and ended up ruining the rim and doing some body damage to the car (nothing too major).  We ended up buying 4 new tires for a car just over a year old.  We'd had 2 flats and this blow out.  Then, when we got ready to leave Amarillo, we found one of the motor home tires flat.  We called Good Sam emergency service.  They were on site in less than 30 minutes and determined the problem was a leaking valve stem.  So, we didn't have to get the tire changed.  The valve stem was replaced and we got on our way.

I see a PressurePro monitoring system in our future....

Hope to meet you on the road one day...
Ellie
