Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
I noticed all the monthly rates do not include electric. What would be a safe estimate for a 50 amp unit with washer and dryer. I know that it will depend on the usage but I thought someone out there might have estimated their electric by the month.
Ours has been running about $70+/month this year....was only $60 last year, but this year we are direct billed from the electric company and last year the park did it...and I suppose the rates went up as well. We have 50amp and do about 6 to 8 loads of laundry a week in our Splendide combo laundry unit.
I think this one is pretty tough. It really depends on so many things. How you use electric appliances, where you are, how the RV park chooses to charge you are just a few.
We have stayed at so few RV parks that charge extra for long enough to have to pay it, we really don't have a feel for it. We just don't camp that way very much. However, $100 a month should cover it just about anywhere and with any usage. We have paid as little as $7 and as much as $50 and we do use our convection oven and our washer/dryer and don't skimp on air conditioning or heating with electric heaters. In short we have seen a huge range of charges. It is interesting to note that in some states, local laws do not allow an RV park to sell electric services. Oklahoma is one. In that state if you pay your electric bill it is paid directly to the electric utility providing the power not to the RV park. That's not to say that they can't charge an extra flat rate per day for AC or for 50 amps service.

We have found since going full time this winter in Az. some charge and some do not. River Breeze in Ehrensburg did and so did Mission View in Tucson, however Beaudry's RV resort did not in the winter months but do in the summer months because of AC. Desert Trails also in Tucson did not charge. We do not have washer/dryer and our electric ran between 50 and 60 a month at times we did use the AC but again that was at a place which we didnt have to pay electric. So it can vary. State pks in N.M. during summer months do not charge for electric. Places simply add more to the site for staying and not charge for electric. southwestjudy & Bob & 2blackdogs
We have seen electric rates run from 8c/kilowatt-hour to 18c/kilowatt-hour. We use between 15 and 40 kilowatt-hours per day depending on how hot it is with our 40' 50AMP motorhome with a Splendide washer-dryer. That gives a monthly range of $36 to $216 for a 30-day month. A Splendide washer/dryer load runs about 2 kilowatt-hours. Every time we have a meter, even if we are not paying for electricity, I write down the starting and ending kilowatt-hours so we know our usage.
