Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.


We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

I don't know if I am in competition for asking the dumbest question here but we are new to the modern motorhomes.  We were looking at some Motorhomes at a fairground sale a few weeks ago and we walked into a few that had the entry door up front in front of the passenger seat.  My wife took one look at that and couldn't figure how how anyone could possibly feel comfortable sitting in a seat with the floor 2-3 feet below you.  She says she would be acrophobic riding in such a seat.  At this sale there was no one around to answer the questions so we don't know if there is something that goes over that space while traveling or what.  i can understand how a front entry adds more flexibility of space in a MH over an entry in the middle side, but do you really ride in that seat with your legs dangling 2-3 feet off the floor?  You drop that cookie you are eating while traveling down the road and you practically have to take a hike to get to it!

Most front entry rigs have a cover for that space.  It may be manual fold down or power slide cover.  You need to be sure the material is strong enough.  Ours broke when I stood on it.  It is since repaired with heavier plywood.

Don't be too sure the front entry is most efficient.  A lot of folks prefer a mid entry but more and more manufacturers seem to be shying away from the mid entry plan.

Our front entry has an electric cover that is quite strong.  The seat moves forward and I can use the laptop on the dash easily.  Cookie crumbs just go in my seat.   We like the front entry as it gives us a longer area on the side.  Others like the mid entry so that you don't have to go through the whole coach to get to the kitchen when bringing in groceries, etc.

Our motorhome has an air assisted cover that opens and closes with the flip of a switch right next to the passenger's seat.  Since my wife is short, she places a foot stool on the cover to put her feet on while on the road.   I think you'll find that most if not all front door motorhomes have a similar setup.

   From the motorhomes we have looked at it appears the gas models have mid entry and the diesels have the front.
