My husband is 60.5 and I'll be 60 in 2 days. We're just now gathering information and researching a fulltiming lifestyle. We both still feel like we should be 29 though!!!

We will start fulltiming sometime between April and September (whenever the condo sales). Art will be 65 this Friday, and I will be 59.5 (401K without penalties). Man, this has been a long winter in Salt Lake !!!!

I was nearly 56 and my husband nearly 58 when we started. Both our birthdays are in September and we started fulltiming in August 2004.

Unless lightning strikes, the soonest we will be able to go fulltime is when I turn 62 in 2008. My wife will be...
well, let's just say that she will still be younger than I. I'm looking forward to it.... everybody I know who has already retired from this job looks 15 years younger!

Hi;

I was 56 and my wife was 55 when we struck out for the rest of our lives. We left the cold for warmer climes on 28 December 2004 and haven't looked back yet. God graciously gave us a wonderfully beautiful and diverse country to live in and we hope to be able to see most of it before our time is up.

Well, I guess we are the senior citizens of this group. I will be 68 in April and Linda just turned 64 in January, oboy I'm in trouble now! Ah, but the point is we don't feel like senior citizens and that's what counts. Age is only a number and life is what you make of it. My Dad lived to be almost 94 and both of Linda's parents are still with us at age 87 and her father plays tennis twice a week.

We had hoped to go full-time this year, but since the real estate market is very slow in southwest Florida it looks like it will be next year before we can join the ranks of full-timers, if we're lucky. We may have to get a St. Joseph statue to bury in the back yard to help with our condo sale!

Please let us know if you know anyone who would like a nice 2 BR, 2 Bath, with a den condo (1315 Sq. Ft.) overlooking a nice little lake in Naples, Florida. It's available fully furnished at a reasonable price! We're only 5 miles from the Gulf of Mexico with some very nice beaches to enjoy.

We won't be on the road for another 5 1/2 years but at that time we will be 55 and 58. We can't wait!!!

When the house sells (East TN), we will be full-timing at age 76/75 (Married 53 yrs.). Not our first crack at it, as we full-timed for a couple of years when we first retired (1986) and have always had an RV of one sort or another. Looking forward to it like we did when we were 56/55. Getting rid of all the "stuff" is the greatest challange, and we found that putting any of it in storage is a waste of money and effort. Howard and Linda are at one end of the age scale and we are at the other. You can hardly miss the full-timing age "window".

We were 46 and 40 when we started and it has been 3-1/2 years now. We had some financial luck and then some medical issues to give us a kick out of the ratrace and here we are.

My wife and I will be 59 (don't tell her I told her age). However if I keep getting so stressed and frustrated on my j o b, it could be sooner, just with less money! I am 54 now and my wife will be 54 in September (oops there I go again...

My husband and I are both 59. Sold the house and business last year and started full timing Sept. '06. We feel very blessed to be able to live this lifestyle while we are young and can enjoy it. We planned it very carefully and live frugally debt-free. Workamping is a great way to save on expenses.

We start in 4 years. I will be 67 and husband 62! Hey thats what I get for marrying a younger man the 2nd time around. I plan to retire at 66 so will have one year to get things in order. Both of us are healthy and pray to stay that way.

Hi my husband and I would love to start fulltiming in a little over 3 years. At that time I'll be 42 and he'll be 51. We would like to travel and do antique shows and fleamarkets. Do you work and just live the rv lifestyle or are you retired and just enjoying life?

We will be 64!/2 and 66. Never felt that I wanted to retire until the new thinking of the new breed of money hungry CEO. No longer family freindly companys. At one time we could call a company and get a real live person, what's the odds now. That's enough of that. Just put the home on the market, have our new RV packed, and already know where our first month fulltiming will be.The year 2007 will be the starting of a new lifestyle for our chrilden (dogs) and us. Can't tell you how excited we are. Happy RVing to all.

Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner! No, I'm still working (school teacher). Want to retire soon and hit the road full-timing next summer (2008) but having trouble talking my wife into the change of life style. I can't figure why she wants to stay in this big expensive house in NE OHIO (winter yuk!). Both our girls are out. It's just us. What do you suggest? Good luck on your adventure! We have been fulltiming for 2 years now.....I was 44 and my husband was 50. We too feel very fortunate, gave up the rat race and took to the roads. We love it and would not change it for the world. Our kids, friends and family all think we are crazy, but we just LOVE IT!!!

When we started fulltiming in July, 2005 we were just short of our 66th birthdays. However, we had been "most-timers" for the previous four or five years, wintering in Florida and staying on the road another two to three months. After a few years of doing that, the wife finally said, "Why not go fulltime?" I liked to have fell over 'cause I had been wanting to do it for many years. Have not regreted it either.

How has the Salt Lake KOA been for you? We plan to move in there when the condo sales (could be in the next month or two) until September, when I can retire and start movin on. Art is already retired and movin on without me alot. He left this morning for Valley of Fire and Zions to hook up with his daughter from Phoenix for several days. This job of mine is really getting in the way of fullfilling my dreams!

Tylersamma, SLC KOA is ok depending on which area you are in, they have a long term area that could use some work and they are truly crammed in over there. The section we are in basically surrounds the outside of the short term koa section and the sites are pretty good size. You might want to check it out before you plan on going there to see what areas appeals to you the most. there is usually a waiting list for the nicer monthly sites. The one next to us is empty now, not sure if someone already has it tied up #652 a decent site, we are in 654. we actually had to rent a site a month or so before we needed it to even get one in the longterm areas. Something to consider

Well, I have to admit I'm surprised! I know our situation is unique, but to be the youngest on this forum? I was 30 years old when I quit my job as a Director of a Visitors Bureau, sold all my "stuff" and went off to explore America and beyond as a full-timer. I just turned 37 last weekend - there is no end in sight for this lifestyle.

We have been full-timing since December 9th.....I am 35 and my wife 37. We have traveled all the way across the country from Delaware to Arizona (Snow bird) and have loved every minute of it! Was SOOOO easy giving up the rat race. It was allot of work/stress getting prepared to full-time but was well worth it!

We will be living in our RV starting this June. We are 43/46. However, we will not be moving around much though. Richard will be working fulltime. But after his army duty is over we plan to travel for a year or so before settling down.

We would like to buy and sell antiques at shows and such. We have no investments to live off of or anything soooo we will be changing our lifestyle not so much retiring.

About two months ago I posted that we will fulltime in 4 years. Change that to 19 months. I will be 65. Husband will be 60. Why did we push it up? Last month a mechanic came to work here at age 48. Twenty minutes later he was dead of heart attack. One week later a supervisor age 53 died of cancer. Life is so unpredictable. We studied our finances (and with encouragement from Howard) we made the decision. We have talked to social security and will meet with our financial planned later this month. WE CAN DO THIS!!!!! We feel so much better.

I was(am) 55 and my better half is 49. We started full timing on April 4,2007 ...the day we closed on our house. We sold or gave away everything except a very few personal things that are currently in the back of our car until we get to her moms in a month or two.
We bought a 39 foot motor home with a full wall slide to be our home for the next 5-20 years.

Yes, Shelly is an RN and takes nursing assignments as we want/need. She generally works 8-13 wks (3 days/wk) at a local hospital than takes a few months off as we travel. I work remotely (mainly consulting) for an Internet company that I was previously a network administrator.
We went ALL IN, sold our home, cars, old camper and most of our "stuff". This has allows us to full-time debt free, have reserves/investments and live fairly comfortable. We generally stay in one area for 2-3 months and this also saves on campground and fuel costs. We love our new life!

Wow, what a range of ages! Our plan is to start our full-timing the first half of 2008 (depends on selling the house, of course). We will be 44 and 46. We can't wait to leave the insanity of California's Silicon Valley behind and start having the life we've dreamed of. :) It will be a bit easier for us as we can do some consulting work on the road as needed to generate income. But, we hope not to need to do that toooo much. :)

Well I am so old right now I can't remember if I answered this question before. I will be only 4 months shy of 71 when my DW and I jump on the bus in September, 2009. She is 7 years younger. (Good idea I had to find me a young wife blankstare

).

Good health plus a good outlook on life will go along way to helping us enjoy this new life on wheels.

So whatever your age, you CAN do it!

At this time I am 61 and she is 60. We started in April of 2007. Liquided assets in winter of 06/07 as we moved into a apt. on a temp basis. Bought a used 2001 Safari 40ft. DP MH., sold remainder of personal items as we moved out of apt. Spent April 2007 in a campground to get settled in ( make 2005 Saturn vue towable and pack MH). May 2007 started workamping in New Hampshire. Should have done it sooner as we were campers for many years, but we believe timing is everything. Our plan just worked out for this time in our lives. We have not had a bad day since beginning our fulltiming journey.
