Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
I have been reading RV-Dreams and many other blogs lately and the itch is only getting stronger. I turn 60 this year (wife is only a couple years younger), youngest child finishes college in about a year and a half, our home in northern California has appreciated to unthinkable levels, we became empty nesters this last year, the career has become a job as I find myself working harder and longer now than I did 30 years ago with less satisfaction and as I look back over the years my most fondest vacations were the "car trips" where we traveled to various parts of the U.S. stopping at places along the way. Some moderate health problems a few years back (but now all ok) made me think of how I really wanted to live the rest of my life. My wife of 37 years is my best friend and we look forward to spending more time doing things together.
Concerns that exist are probably the same as everyone goes through such as: what to buy, how to close down a house, how to simplify and dump things, plus of course, concern for the future. The wife in particular is concerned about not only how can we live without "real income", but also when we decide to move back to a stick house, what will we have? Also there are concerns about health costs, insurance, cost of gas, what ifs, etc. Places like RV-Dreams are helping me gather the answers to rest some of her concerns.
And, I cannot yet imagine how I am going to get her to simplify and dispose of the many many things in our house.
Thus I would say I am 90% decided to do fulltiming, she is 65% so the next couple years will be spent moving up those scores to our mutual satisfaction by seeking answers, so look forward to me asking many many questions!
Hoping to change my own RV dreams into my RV doing
