Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.
We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!
This is mainly question for full timers and hope its in the right place here. I am wondering how many out there are happy with your choice of RV after being on the road for awhile. Maybe just answering ....yes, no or sort of.
I think we are satisfied with what we chose in what we could afford. southwestjudy & Bob & 2blackdogs
We are satisfied with the Cedar Creek Custom that we special ordered. Had we had a larger truck we would have liked a Mobile Suites, but in order to stay debt free we couldn't afford a new RV and a new truck so weight was an issue. This is our third Cedar Creek so we were familiar with them before we bought. We had extras added to this unit to meet our living requirements and the only thing that we missed was having an outside 110 outlet installed near the hitch (we have an air hitch and air bags installed on the truck and have to run an extension cord for the pump to fill them). So, yes, after four months on the road we are happy with our unit.

We did change RVs after full-timing for a while. Our old motorhome was bought for vacation trips but worked OK for full-timing. We have now owned our present motorhome longer (almost 3 years) than the old motorhome and are still happy with it.

Technically we're not fulltiming yet, but very close. We've spent several months over the past year in the motor home. Overall, we're very happy with our choice. We almost decided on a 5th wheel, but once we made price comparisons and had many discussions about the advantages/disadvantages, etc., we settled on a motor home. We have a 35' gas Bounder with 2 slides.
The only thing I'm not happy with is the microwave/convection oven. It's too small and too high (I'm slightly vertically challenged).
The motor home works well for our needs and we're very comfortable with the space.
Very happy with our Montana 3400RL. Best addition yet was the Maytag stackable front loading washer and dryer. Yes it is a 220 volt dryer.... had the room in the breaker box to wire it in, works very good. Other additions like a 32 inch flat screen LCD and Bose' 7.1 surround with Athena 8 inch powered sub have taken our experience over the top.

We are not fulltimers but we are frequent rv users and have spent a lot of time in our Cedar Creek. We love it because it just right for us right now. With that said we have toured many fulltimer's rigs and questioned them closely and we have found that those that have researched carefully and made the trade offs right for them, then they are happy with the rig and themselves.
We have heard about a few lemons but most lemons are mainly lemon dealers who promise more than the can or will deliver.
Recently we met a couple who were fulltiming in a Casita and had been for over a year. Yes they still love it and their lifestyle. Many of us couldn't make it through a weekend in their rig. It just goes to show that we are generally happy with our own choices no matter what the rig is.

We live full-time in our KZ Escalade, but do not travel full-time yet... husband still working. We love the fact that we can hitch up and go when we want. We have had our rig for a year now and love it. Would not change a thing.

billiew I am happy to see someone in an Escalade. I would like to ask you a couple question. My wife and I are going to go full time in a couple years and I am looking at the Escalade and the Day Dreamer. What truck do you have? Is it adequate for the job? What were your reasons for getting the Esclade? What part of the country do you live in? I spoke with a dealer this weekend and he said the Escalade is rated to a -20, I don't know if that is true or just a dealer's talk. Anyway, look forward to hearing from you. Ken
We just brought a Cedar Creek 36RLTS four weeks ago. Can't retire for another 4 years and then will full time. We have not used our new fiver yet - not until April. So glad to see others who recommend a Cedar Creek. Also like the Montana 35RL.

Ken,
I am sorry for taking so long to get back to you.I will do my best to answer your questions.
We pull ours with a Dodge 3500 dually. We have had no problem pulling our rig with it, even up and down a 6% grade.I would though recommend a larger truck.Others may not agree with me, but for braking, I would feel better with a larger truck. My husband is just thinking of adding a jake brake.I have read that Dodge is coming out with larger trucks, a 5500 for 2008.
Here is an article that I found today on autoblog.com.
Chicago Auto Show: New Dodge trucks can carry a 'chip-load' of stuffPosted Feb 7th 2007 7:33PM by Mike Magda Looking to break Ford's domination of the medium-duty truck market, Dodge today launched its Ram 4500 and 5500 chassis cab. Frank Kelgon, executive VP of product development, showed off the two trucks in usual Dodge flair, dumping a load of Jay's Hot Stuff chips on the floor in front of always-hungry auto journalists.
These vehicles are the foundation for just about every type of commercial application, including dump trucks, tow vehicles and delivery trucks. The Ford F-series F-450 and F-550 have been segment leaders since the Super Duty line came out. But lately GM has offered some competition with the Chevy Kodiak and GMC Topkick lines. Now Dodge wants a piece of the action. And Dodge is ready to attack all markets, even those who demand luxury as the Laramie trim level will be offered in addition to the ST and SLT.
Available in both 2- and 4-wheel-drive, the new chassis cabs can be ordered with either a regular or Quad Cab body. There are four cab-to-axle lengths for the regular cab (60, 84, 108, and 120 inches) and two (60 and 84) for the Quad Cab. Maximum GVWR for the 4500 model is 16,500 pounds; the 5500 goes up to 19,500 pounds. The GCWR for both models is 26,000 pounds. They all come standard with huge 15.4-inch brakes, and the massive 52-gallon fuel tank leaves the factory with B5 biodiesel fuel.
Dodge is also leveraging its association with Cummins, offering a 6.7-liter turbodiesel rated at 305 horsepower and 610 lb-ft of torque. The engines are backed with either a 6-speed auto or manual transmission and are 50-state legal under the latest emissions regulations.
We would have bought the 5500 if it had been available when we purchase our 3500, to make sure we had plenty of truck and not just enough.
You can read our reasons for purchasing the Escalade and pics on Our RV Choice page on our site we are building. You will also find an update about how it handles the cold temperatures.
We live in North Central Texas near Arlington. If you are ever in this area let us, know. You can contact us through our sites Contact Us page or here.
I hope this helps you. Contact us anytime with questions.

We have been fulltiming for 2 years now. We bought our Sunnybrook 391KLXSURV Toyhauler brand new, and have never regreted a thing. We haul 2 cruisers with us and tow with a Ford F-550. We love our lifestyle and would not change it for the world.
Very Happy, We spent about three years researching what we had to have and what we could have in it, someone mentioned they have a 220 dryer, both the washer and dryer we have are 240 and can wash a standard load with as little as 7 gallons

Were not full timers but stay for extended periods in our HH Preimer and very happy with the unit. Has all the room we want and need, pulles well and easy to set up. If we get in the market again HH would be the first F/W I will consider. SS
