Hi Everyone. Well, after 15 years the RV-Dreams Community Forum is coming to an end. Since it began in August 2005, we've had 58 Million page views, 124,000 posts, and we've spent about $15,000 to keep this valuable resource for RVers free and open. But since we are now off the road and have settled down for the next chapter of our lives, we are taking the Forum down effective June 30, 2021. It has been a tough decision, but it is now time.

We want to thank all of our members for their participation and input over the years, and we want to especially thank those that have acted as Moderators for us during our amazing journey living and traveling in our RV and growing the RV-Dreams Family. We will be forever proud to have been founders of this Forum and to have been supported by such a wonderful community. Thank you all!!

Rockport, TX Campgrounds

We're on our way to Rockport/Port Aransas area for a few days on our way down to the Rio Grande Valley and wondered if you guys had some good recommendations of campgrounds in that area.

We stayed in Rockport for a month or so last year.  We found the campgrounds very busy.  Lagoons is probably the top rated campground, but their sites are very small and they did not have a site big enough for our rig for a month, so we only stayed there two nights.  We ended up at Big D's RV park.  It is fairly new, reasonably priced, has a club house, sites are a little short, but there is nice room between them.  There are a number of campgrounds around and if you are only staying for a few days I'm sure you can find something, but I recommend you call ahead.

As for the valley, the weather here is not so good now, but we actually got to see some sunshine today.  Forecast for the next week is rainy and cooler than normal.

Good luck,

There are several good parks in the area. True may be a little crowded at times, but I don't think right now is one of those time.

We've arrived in Rockport and are staying at the Lagoons RV Resort.Ê I think we made a very good choice, we passed a few sleazy looking parks and one where I'm sure they could reach out and touch their neighbors.Ê Now if only the weather would cooperate we'd be able to have a good time... we done with the rain, rain, rainÊÊ

We're presently at Fulton Oaks. They were full when we came in but I thought I saw a vacant site today. The sites here are quite large and the facilities are nice. The price is great too. We're paying $230/mo plus .15/kw hr.

We stayed at Marina Beach RV Resort in Port Aransas over Christmas. It's right in the middle of town and very close to Roberts Point Park and the ferry. It's a new park, just opened last year. We liked it there too.

We also stayed at Mustang Island State Park and Goose Island State Park. Both very nice locations but no sewer hookups at either park. Showers/washrooms at Mustang Island were iffy though.

If you need any more info, let me know.

Bahia Vista is a great campground.  Friendly, clean restrooms, 300' lighted pier.  They do tend to be booked, so call ahead.  I am sorry I don't have the number on me.

Here is a map of RV parks in the Port Aransas/Rockport, TX, area. The satellite imagery is not too bad in this area, so I think the locations are pretty much right on (or at least better than most of Google's guesses).

I think I got all the RV parks mentioned in this thread, plus a few.

Are there any other parks I should include?

Just for the heck of it, here is a sample trip from Tampa to Brownsville with stops.

There are brief instructions on the page regarding how to edit the trip, if you wish to play around with it.

If you do mess around with the trip, let me know if you run into any problems or would like to see it behave differently.

Tom
