We are here in So TX. It's averaging over 100 degrees every day. The smell of the black water tank is horrible. We dump every week and put in two tablets. Any suggestions on what we should do to keep the smell down?

More water, had cyclone covers on the vents. Add extra water to bowl before flushing. I assume this odor occurs only while flushing? If not, then you need to get the seals replaced. Also, if odor is throughout your rig, how do you know it isn't the gray tank. Use baking soda liberally in both systems to help buffer the solution.

It is only when we flush! We will add more water and maybe another tablet? Thanks for your help.

You don't need any tablets, just water. Keep a gallon jug full and just pour extra down as you flush. Less time for doors to escape. Do you have a cyclone vane on your black tank vent? It not, get one. Really, really helps with both tanks.

Did you mean cyclone vent? I'm not finding a cyclone vane.

Look for Cyclone vent cap. It uses a wind vane to keep the vent pointed in the right direction.

I don't know if you are running your vent fan when flushing ... but if you do, it WILL suck stinky air into your rig. NEVER flush with the vent fan running.

If your a/c is running it will pull odor in when flushing. Be sure to open, and close valve as quickly as possible.

sounds like your tank is not properly vented correctly;; Try using a liquid deodorizer they seem to work better
as others have said DONT run fan on the out direction when flushing if yours is in the toilet area
when you dump your tank ? do u flush it real good? is the smell worse or the same empty as when its near full
I tend to dump mine every 4-5 days in warm temps; I never get a smell from toilet but have on occasion got it coming out of roof vent

The AC recirculates inside air and does not bring in outside air so it will not suck air from the black tank when you flush.

I disagree if your tank vents up through the toilet when flushed which some do otherwise there would no sewer smell as the poster claims
AC air intake will circulate this air ;; I personally have never experienced the sewer smell coming up through my toilet when flushing
