Well, we've done it! Put money down on a used 5th wheel here in FL last Friday and will be picking it up next Friday. It's an older one (2000) but is in good shape overall and will let us get our 'feet wet' full-timing without breaking the bank. It's 34', 3 slides, and lovely inside. Mike is eager to get it here (we're originally from Missouri but are in FL this month taking care of his parents who both have dementia. That's another story in itself.) so that he can get going on the little things it needs.
We will be 'on the road' with it March 31. First a stop in Louisiana to visit friends, then on to MO and the storage unit to stock it up, then to New England for 2 months. A little nervous; hoping everything goes smoothly.
Will be spending time on the phone tomorrow talking to insurance companies getting that all lined up. Allstate wants us to stay with them but am hoping to find someone cheaper with good coverage.

Congratulations, nothing wrong with a good used unit. Our first fifth wheel was used and if it would have had more carry capacity we would have kept it.Enjoy it.When checking on insurance be sure to check into obtaining a full timers policy.

Search this forum for leads and suggestions for Full-Timers insurance. I seem to remember Howard had a very descriptive post on the subject.

That's a great idea! I would love to do a search on the insurance topic. Is there a place to enter a search? I haven't seen one - or I'm just blind. Probably the latter. LOL Gloria

Howard has written a great section on fulltimer insurance needs:
