Any advice on a good town or park to stay somewhere between San Antonio and Corpus Christi?    We would like to park the coach and use our pickup and bike to get around.  Not too fussy about where we stay but we are 41'+trailer.  Thanks in advance for your help!  

Janni, if you get down below San Antonio, be aware the oil drilling crews have most of the campgrounds full. I was down there and had a hard time finding a spot for just one night, and that was on a gravel lot with no shade. It was a brand new park, started to take advantage of the oil boom. Just do your research and hope for the best.

Sorry I don't remember the park name but there is a state park at Three Rivers or Three Feathers about midway between the two. Really big spaces on a lake. It was great, lots of wildlife...quiet etc.      EDIT....it was Choke Canyon State Park

I don't know of any campgrounds, but one of my favorite places is near San Antonio - Gruene.  It is this adorable little historic town.  Great restaurants, historic dance hall.  Just a nice place to spend a day or two.  I need to go back...

Thanks all for your help and suggestions. I should have asked about favorite places to see too. Ken-know how that is to not find a place as the oilfield has taken everything by our former home. Will drive part of the day and start making calls. igotjam- I thought the parks had a 35' limit? I googled and saw they had 30/50 amp so may check that out on a day trip. Sounds beautiful! The spots are big enough to park 2 rigs your size. No overhanging trees, easy access wide roads...no problem for the biggest rigs. I had 50 amp full service. I went in Dec and park was mostly empty. Tou even get a covered picnic area with table.

I second the River Walk and The Alamo.Just an FYI, if you have a dog they're not allowed on the grounds in any manner at the Alamo.

Glad I posted this question. We are staying at Kerrville. Spent a whole day in Fredericksburg and part of a day in Bandera(sp) Looking forward to the River Walk, The Alamo, New Braunfels............as much as we can work in before moving toward Port Aransas next week.
