We just received mail from Camp Club USA for us to join their club for 50% off of over 1,000 campgrounds. The cost is $39.95/yr. I looked on this forum for information and/or conversations about this group and didn't find anything. Does anyone have this plan? Is it a good deal? They say they have high quality campgrounds, but that's easy for them to say. I'd rather hear from people's experiences.
As we're getting ready to travel around the country I know having several options to save at campgrounds is always nice. So far, we have RPI, veteran's access to military campgrounds, Good Sam, and the America the Beautiful Senior Pass. Will these be sufficient or should we invest another $40 to have more options?

Passport America started this trend and has a larger network than Camp Club USA. Camp Club USA is Affinity Groups attempt to do the same, the same people behind Good Sam, Coast to Coast, Camping World and Woodalls. We have had Passport America for years and are very happy, it only takes 3 to 5 nights a year to pay for itself and we normally do more like 20.

At $40 dollars a year you will get your money back in just a few stays. Some CG's have it restricted to 1 or 2 nights, at 50% which is still quite a savings, other CG's have a restriction on the time of year--(as in winter, for most Florida CG's), still others have it restricted to 7 nights stay or even unlimited or unlimited, when less than 75% full. Go on line and check out some of CG's some of them are really nice--but they are all held to some sort of standard and they claim they are inspected every year to make sure they still meet the standard. If you are going to be moving around quite a bit I would think you could get more than your money back out of it.

If that's a part of the Affinity Group I would pass on that offer and select Passport America instead. I believe that the annual cost is about the same (I may have saved a bit more when I signed up at one of the RV rallies I attended) and the network is very large.

We've been with Passport America for 5 years now and have been very happy with the savings we enjoy every year. That one is a no brainer @ $44

We also recommend Passport America. Our first year paid for itself in two weeks of travel and this year we are already ahead of the game.

I'll put in another vote for Passport America. We don't use it that often, prefering the state parks but all it takes is a couple of nights and you have recouped your membership fee. I'll join Bill Adams in staying away from anything having to do with the Affinity Group. They will absolutely bury you in an avalanche of mailings and emails.

Thank you all for your helpful input. I've tossed the Camp Club mailing and have signed up with Passport America. We really appreciate your help!
Edit: There is a whole forum here on discount camping and memberships and here is a recent discussion on Passport America, http://www.activeboard.com/forum.spark?aBID=91511&p=3&topicID=33071860.
