Cradlepoint Confirms PHS300 Will Not Receive an Update for 4G LTE

Cradlepoint has now confirmed that the PHS300 will NOT ever support LTE, due to limitations of the hardware itself - the PHS300's processor is not fast enough to support the super-fast speeds LTE can provide. It is able to support 4G WiMAX devices because while WiMAX is fast (and certainly much faster than 3G), the max WiMAX speeds are are only about 10mbps, and real-world WiMAX speeds are usually somewhat slower than that. LTE has proven to be MUCH faster; if the PHS300 were to be used with an LTE device, users would get cheated out of the great speed their LTE device can offer.
Hey Matt, The MBR1000 will work with 4G LTE .... right?

Cradlepoint has beta MBR-1000 firmware for the Pantech 4G modem but it is definately beta software and some have had issues with it. Verizon seems to want us to use the LG modem for 4G, at least that is what their emails have shown discounts for. I don't think anyone has router firmware that works with the LG yet.

Yes, with the beta firmware the MBR1000 will work in a 4G area. You can download the beta software here - http://cradlepoint.com/lte
Please note that if you purchased your MBR1000 through 3Gstore we can't officially support the beta build. The final release is pending and should be available within the next couple of months.
