My wife , Patsy, and I have short time camped close to home for the last 30 yrs. no more than two weeks at a time. I went to work from the campground. I'm retiring next July and we are planning on spending our winters in Florida. Starting after Chrstmas untill mid March or so. We would appretiate any and all info or suggestions on favorite campground locations, rates or just your favorites in general. Please give us your ideas and hope to see you all there. Happy Holidays and Happy Camping.

We agree with the previous poster, in that we like the middle of the state. We are in Avon Park which is north of Sebring and about 100 miles to either coast. A lot less traffic and less crowed for shopping, also the rates for Resorts are a lot less. You need to come down for a season and than take trips to different areas and decide for yourselves where you would like to stay in the future. The further South you go the warmer the weather, as we are about 120 miles south of Ocala and usually run 5 to 8 degrees warmer. It's your choice, but come down and enjoy the weather.

Have you looked at www.rvreviews.com to find an area or park that meets your needs? I find the reviews helpful, if you take an average. Some people rate a park low if the wi-fi is weak, others if the grass is not green and manicured. Look at all the ratings, read the comments and make a decision based on YOUR wants and needs, then enjoy.
When you select a city and have looked at the reviews, notice in the upper right hand corner of the page a listing of nearby cities with RV parks. Helps to find an area you will be happy with.
On edit, I had posted essentially the same reply on your other query, thought my post had evaporated, so I re-answered the query here.

We are at Wilderness RV Estates right now in Silver Springs, Florida. It's close to shopping in Ocala but out of town a little on the edge of the Ocala National Forest. You can be at the Ocean in an hour if that's what you want.Weather has been a little chilly the last two weeks but is warming up again.

We are going to Sebring, Fla and will be there on 1 Jan 11 until Mar. We spent the last two winters in Gulf Shores and was there and left and returned to home base because of our furr kid. Montana seems to be better so we are going back South.

We are in Tampa, Fl and are here until mid-April. The big thing with wintering in Florida is the cost. RV parks and lots run the gamut .... do a lot of homework to find an affordable place that is convenient to the beaches, shopping, trails etc, etc. This is what our park give us. At $11.60 per day we can't complain... but to get this price you have to stay 6 months. Their structure is $550 for the first 3 months, $450 for the 4th month and FREE for the following 2 months. You can also extend your stay for a flat rate of $350 per month.
